I have a package sent from QVC by UPS  But when my package got to Phoenix  (I live in Glendale a suburb of Phoenix) it was then sent two different cities in California.  WHY UPS???  I realize QVC has no control over this, I am just very curious.  This is not the first time I have had a packages make the rounds around the country to get to my residence.  I have seen Packages make maybe 10 stops.  Just concerns me.  More chances for packages getting lost.  And that has happened to me on several occasions.

I've often wondered the same thing. A few years back a package 📦 was out for delivery but never made it off the truck. The Q refunded the money 💰 but the package was never scanned as being delivered. It may still be on the truck. (Philosophy duo)

I'm sure it has to do with cost.

UPS isn't cheap (for you and me) but major retailers make great deals for their shipping.

They need a large company with a good OVERALL track record.

The choices really are only three, FED EX, UPS and the post office.

FED EX is terrible (in our area anyway), the post office gets a lot of Q's business through UPS handing off to them already, and that just kind of leaves the brown truck.

For the millions (billions?) of packages shipped, the track record is pretty good. There are going to be mishaps, but it boils down to what kind of a deal Q can get with a shipper, and having a shipper that is responsive to their needs.

I live in Peoria and I had a package (not QVC) go from Florida to Nevada, to Tucson where it sat for 3 days. I could have driven to Tucson faster.

I would guess the driver took it to the stop before yours and it got delivered elsewhere, but not scanned. I have noticed sometimes packages aren't scanned but they are supposed to be. Anyone else notice this? Seems they should have a record of what leaves on the truck and they should match it up with the driver's scanner,  it perhaps there's nobody checking this?

@StraytoStay QVC looked at the tracking too and could see it never left the truck. It is up to them to track it and get a refund. I was taken care of so that's what mattered at that time. The Q has come through 100% of the time if I had a problem. Been with them since the beginning 86 or 87.

I think that's a question for UPS, not QVC.  However, I think it's probably matter of pricing and QVC volume to certain areas and UPS's planes.  There are factors that we, the customer can't even imagine.

UPS had particular problems over the holidays...........this story appeared in today's Atlanta metro newspaper.

.

UPS said holiday shipping struggles took a $125 million toll on its financial results after its system was overloaded with packages in the week after Thanksgiving, leading to some delayed shipments and frustrated consumers.

The Sandy Springs-based shipping giant is working to expand its capacity to handle more packages, and announced Thursday it is ordering 14 additional Boeing 747-8 cargo jets and four Boeing 767s.

The company also said it is investing $12 billion in expansion and increased pension funding, which CEO David Abney called “an outgrowth of the opportunity for tax savings created by the Tax and Jobs Act.

@ruthbe

Well, when QVC was looking at delivery companies, my guess is that UPS negotiated the best price for delivering QVC's shipping.   Smaller carriers might be "better" but perhaps they don't deliver all over.   Just speculation on my part.
