Re: WHEN PURCHASING APPLIANCES ...

Same thing can be said about automobiles.  My control panel looks like a 747 control panel.  And, my manual is thicker than the War & Peace book.

Going from a manual car to this...........

I am so much happier with my front loader washer!  No more unbalanced loads!  I love it.  No more leaning over and digging stuff out of the tub--and it be all tangled up like I'm gonna use the sheets for a rope to climb out of the jail.  Woman Embarassed

@Sooner I wonder if that doesn't have more to do with the brand than with top loader vs front loader. I had a top loading Kenmore Elite for years and finally replaced it a couple of years ago with a top loading Speed Queen. Neither of them ever tangled or twisted my clothes.

Also, I'm just 5'2" and can easily reach the bottom of my washer. So I'm always puzzled when I read that someone else can't. Is is because some machines sit on platforms and mine sits right on the floor?  I can't reach stuff in cabinets, but I can reach all the way down into my washer.

@shoesnbags I'm a 1/2-inch shorter than you.  We had a big top load washer in our last house.  It twisted king sized sheets no matter what, was often off balance, and I really had to stretch in and dig for anything in the bottom.  It was the highest rated one, don't remember the brand, but I hated it.

We have had this LG set for 8 years without an issue.  I love the washer and the dryer both, and I do not know how two people manage to wash every day, sometimes multiple loads.  We live in a dry climate, have a laundry room where we can leave the washer door open, and have had no issues with mold.

I was skeptical about buying them, but have loved them so much and it made laundry a lot easier for us.  And yes, these are on the raised drawers so the height is more comfortable for me and 6'3" hubby.

The less bells and whistles the better, I like Hotpoint made by GE.

I have a Speed Queen washer and love it.

When I was kid mom did her laundry at a laundromat and the washers and dryers all-Speed Queens!

I bought a Speed Queen washer in 2019, no bells and whistles and it works like a charm.

I bought a Speed Queen washer and dryer recently...so expensive - and soooo worth the money - just the basics !! My appliance repairman recommended that brand and he was right  !!! By the way, their life expectancy is 25 years.  That works for me.

@sarahpanda . I have a Maytag large, basics that is over 35 years old. Looks new, and does the job. If we need a new one I would like a Speed Queen, but I heard a while back they had changed them and there was a glitch.  Is that true, or did they fix it..? Also, I would like a reg washer dryer, not one that is a total energy saver. My daughter has one of those fancy energy saver and it takes 45-1 hour to dry a load.  And the washer takes forever.

My 1 year old front loader actually has "button" to press for a DOWNLOADED wash cycle.

My brain just can't cope with this concept.

My ipad shows many of the neighbors wifi addresses as well as our own.  (of course the're all password protected) But recently I noticed someone's LG REFRIGERATOR is also on our list!  Frankly I'm glad that my fridge isn't wifi enabled.

When our 30 year old Kenmore washer died a couple of years ago, I bought a Maytag commercial/residential top loader washer. We love it. It has dials instead of a compluter control panel and enough cycles to meet our needs without going overboard. It also came with both rubber hoses and stainless steel hoses (we used the stainless steel ones). The Kenmore was older than the guys who installed it. 😄

I was on the fence between getting a Speed Queen or the Maytag, but had read that Speed Queen had changed to be more energy efficient and weren't cleaning as well as they once had. Our Maytag was more expensive, but it's great. I'm thinking of taking it with us when we move in a couple of years and giving the new owners a credit to buy their own washer.

BTW, we had the dryer in your picture, too. We got it at the same time we bought our Kenmore washer, but it died a few years before the washer. Ours were white.
