I know it can seem aggravating but the day will come when no one is there to follow you and you will wish for these days to come back. Just breathe, pat her head and go about your business.

My 8 year old dog does the same thing...we have a 2 story home so she does not always go upstairs to find me but does sometimes. I also have to be carefull not to step on her!

I doubt these are signs of a more serious condition, but I would get a complete chem panel done on her. It will give you the most complete picture of different enzyme levels, kidney and liver function, etc... all which can change quickly with an older animal. Some dogs just love to be with their people and, as another poster pointed out, are afraid to miss anything. I see this behavior with our two especially when we go to the kitchen!

If you have a Thundercoat try it. I've used it with our older dog when she does some unusual type things and it helps. She seems to like the way it cuddles her.

If the vet gives her a clean bill of health, I wouldnt worry about it. I would just give her hugs and tell her how much you love her. Some day she will be gone and I bet you will miss her being under foot. I know I will when the time comes.

My not quite 10 yo boxer does this to me all the time. And God forbid if he goes outside, I go into the basement and DH lets him in.
I will hear him frantically running around upstairs trying to "find" me and then he starts crying. I have to go to the bottom of the steps and call his name. Once he sees me he's okay. DH tries to tell him "mommy is in the basement" but until he sees me, he's a mess.

This made me catch my breath---I lost my little one yesterday and you're right---he was always right by my side on his pillow. I keep looking to my left and all that's there is an empty pillow.
