If you felt like going back to school now, what would your major be?

Scanning magazine subscriptions for DH’s Easter basket, I came across a magazine I didn’t know existed:  National Geographic History.  And it hit me... I love history, I wish I could take a lot history classes.

I subscribed to that magazine for me 😄

Re: WHAT’S YOUR NEW MAJOR?

@Noel7  HI Noel-interesting because History was my desired major way back when-with a concentration in ancient civilizations.  Long story why I didn't go that route.

Today I would major in environmental science.  Would love to travel setting up clean water in undeveloped countries.  Or documenting our diminishing polar caps.

Re: WHAT’S YOUR NEW MAJOR?

I think it would be early childhood education, with minors in poli sci and industrial psych.

@Cakers3

I majored in Anthro for a couple of years before I discovered women got very few jobs in that area, but that’s another story.

I whole heartedly support your choice, and I realize you already know A LOT about environmental science 🙂

Re: WHAT’S YOUR NEW MAJOR?

[ Edited ]

I majored in English with a minor in Classical Studies (ancient history, philosophy, languages, literature, mythology, archaeology).

I looked into doing a Masters in Classical Studies ... but couldn't find a school that offered the particular concentration I wanted ... so I've been studying on my own for years and years and years.

At this particular moment in time though, I'd major in Philosophy.

@Noel7  My HS guidance counselor discourage me from majoring in History because "I wouldn't get a teaching job in History".  That wasn't why I wanted to major in History-I wanted to study ancient civilizations, period.  LOL  I wasn't thinking of work per se but I'm sure if I had gone that route something would have developed.

I read everything I can get my hands on regarding the environment ever since forever it seems.

I am trying to encourage GS to at least minor in environmental science in another year when college starts.

I can take free courses as non-credit courses since I'm OLD!  but they have to have an open seat for me.  Or reduced tuition if I want the credits.
