@Laura14

I made the decision not to have children in September 1964.  Coincidentally, that was my first experience with my peers in kindergarten.

Years later, after college, I found myself working with a lot of older women.  We'd go out to dinner and, after a cocktail or two, I'd always hear the same thing.

Don't get me wrong.  I love my kids -- I do.  But if I had it to do over again...

I knew then that I would rather regret not having children than regret having them.

I'm 66 now.  No kids, no regrets.

@just bee Thank you! I am in my fifties and I still get dirty looks from women when they find out I am not a mother. I'm never sure if it's judgement or jealousy.

I love my nieces and nephew. I have zero regrets about not having a son or daughter.

Congrats on knowing who you were early on and making the right decision for you too.

@Laura14@just bee I'm 72 and never had children (there were several reasons).  No regrets whatsoever. At a HS reunion some time ago many of my classmates seemed envious of that fact. One of them said "she was the only smart one among us" and another comment was "that's why she looks the way she does"...and, yes, many said "if I had to do it over again". I can't say that it was a conscious decision but it worked out for the best.

@just bee   @Laura14

In my 20s, I dated a couple of men who were divorced and had a child or two.

I turned out to be a Stepmom for a period of time.

Even back then, I knew if I ever wanted to spend time with kids, I could always BORROW them for a weekend or overnight.

Parents are always happy to let people they trust take them overnight.

Worked out fine for everyone.

@Tinkrbl44

Well, I too am far from paperless, but I am able to join such interesting conversations here and else where.

I also am able to learn so much about everything on the internet.

I love my computer, except when it drives me crazy and goes wonky on me...
