I have always thought of middle age as being in your 50's. Realistically how many people live to be 100? I guess I would say 40-45.

I never thought of middle age as being halfway to your death age.

 

It's just the "middle years."  You're not "young"  ie like in your 20s, but you're not yet a senior (which I think of as being in the 80s and higher.)

 

Although, those terms are still abstract to me.  I still think of spirit and mindset as true indicators of "age."
