DO NOT USE THIS ITEM particularly if you have allergies. An Ultrasonic humidifier HAS TO HAVE A UV LIGHT in it to kill the bacteria it breeds. My son became ill after using one for only one night, he felt like he had the flu, got better then had post nasal drip. He used it again a couple of months later and had the same flu like symptoms for the rest of the day. He has had postnasal drip ever since running down the back of his throat. He saw the doctor and the doctor told him he just had a cold. He had blood running down his throat. My son coupled the onset of his problems to the use of the humidifier, researched it and it listed all the symptoms he had. Now they make one with a UV light built in to kill the bacteria and my son is going back to the doctor for an antibiotic and to tell him what caused it.

These machines have to be cleaned everyday, if they do not have a UV light as part of the machine. They are spraying bacteria directly into the air you breathe. This is very dangerous especially if you have allergies or asthma.
