Re: Voicemail from wrong number

think that as long as she didn't represent herself as a psychologist, or lead the person to think that she was, she was nothing more than a stranger with a listening ear.

I mean, how is what she did any different than when you pour out your woes to a stranger at a bus stop?

Re: Voicemail from wrong number

I used to get a lot of wrong voicemails. There were 2 other people in town with the same name as mine, so I got messages for them a lot. I ignored them for the most part, but one call was regarding a payment for a car which I did not own, so I let the bank know it wasn't me and another time it was for a job offer which was not for me, and I did call the person back to let her know she had the wrong number. She was very nice and when I told her the situation, she laughed and then said "Do you need a job?" But she thanked me profusely for letting her know.

Re: Voicemail from wrong number

@GoneButNotForgotten spoke to the cutter's MOTHER, not the cutter, is the way I read her post. The only advice she appears to have given was suggesting she find a new doctor.

I'd hold off on arresting her for practicing medicine without a license. If we wait, maybe we can get her on paying her water bill late, too.

@GoneButNotForgotten  ....... I am not sure after reading your post if the unwanted calls really bother you. To have various conversations with the people and give them advise does not sound like someone annoyed with the calls. There is an easy solution to your problem but you have not taken it. Without knowing what advise you have given no one knows if you did anything that can be classified illegal. Hopefully none of your advise makes anyone do anything drastic. Though you may have not done anything illegal you are crossing over the line. Especially telling someone to get another doctor. You do not know this doctor professionally. Depending on what you said to the people calling about the doctor might/could be another possible lawsuit. Careful what you say.

Re: Voicemail from wrong number

Many years ago, on a "landline" with an answering machine, someone left me a message accusing me of being with her man.  She threatened me, told me to lay off, that he was only her man, and I'd better back off.

It was a wrong number.  Man Happy

Re: Voicemail from wrong number

I would not assume it was a wrong number dial. This is how scammers get people to answer next time or to call them back. They're very sneaky these days.

Re: Voicemail from wrong number

My best and most annoying was when cell phones just came out.  No blocking or any of the fancy technology we have today.

I got a phone call from two young girls who sounded about my age and they promptly accused me of stealing their phone.

Thinking that was the most ridiculous thing in the world, I hung up on them.  They called right back and told me the phone I was talking on was hers because this was her number.

I told her she was nuts and hung up again.  They kept calling and I turned the phone off.

The next day, I listened to the messages and the very last one was the two of them apologizing.   Apparently this chick didn't know her own phone number and they had been calling the wrong one (mine) the whole time.

I did get a sorry.

Back when I lived in an apartment I kept getting personal calls for the Leasing Agent. (after talking to her found out her home number was similar to mine)....This stalker kept calling me by her name with different "proposals". I even picked up the phone ONCE to tell him he had the wrong number and to please cease with his calling. He persisted, and even when I turned my phone off I guess he had it set to know when my line was available and he immediately would call even at 5:30 AM when I was getting ready for work!!! (Currently there are few android apps that can automatically redial, when the line is busy or not answered calls. There are two Android apps on the Google Play store too).  I have AT&T and contacted them and they connected me to a Specialist that dealt with these calls....They completed a trace report and referred it to the Police.  She said the Police would deal with it....And I NEVER heard from him again......

@PilatesLover @Tink814

So if blocking isn't working, my suggestion is to contact your phone carrier to see if they can do something.

Sadly, that doesn't always work, because the caller "spoofs, the number which is not the real number they are calling from....
