Yes - I was in an accident. Hospital stitched me up and I was able to go home without being hospitalized but of course you are banged up a bit. (I had stitches on my head). Just as I was falling asleep, my mother was standing at the doorway to the bedroom and she said everything would be fine. This was about three years after she passed away. My daughter had been very close to my mother and she believes my mother was there but of course, everyone else thinks I dreamed it. As it turned out, I was fine with no lingering bad effects.

I do find it interesting that a couple of others on this thread mentioned they saw their loved one after an accident.

I think that the meds given to people in the ER may have something to do with it. hallucinations??? Not uncommon after a trauma and esp if medicated for pain. I was once given a med for seizures and I saw my dining room furniture dancing. I told DH he better take me to the ER because I was still able to realize furniture does not dance - even though it looked very real to me.

Re: Visits from those who have passed on

Dreams count as visits. And, yes, I have had those type of visits from loved ones who have passed on and also many many very specific and unique signs during my waking hours. It all gives me great comfort. I don't pretend to have any idea as to who or what created our world but I do know that the spirits of our loved ones go on and are with us always.

Once someone is gone, that is it; they then exist solely in our memories. I see no reason to believe otherwise.

Dreams and memories are nice, but they are nothing more than dreams and memories.

I completely agree.

Re: Visits from those who have passed on

I am a Christian person and my church specifically tells me that when we pass into Heaven we are no longer in the world as we know it now. I think a spirit goes through many phases in it's life and just as we do not remember the ones previous to this one - when we pass on to the next one we won't remember this one. Our memories are contained within our brain and when we die , our brain dies and those memories do not move on with our spirit.

I haven't had formal visits. But it seems as if they're still with me, the haven't left. My grandparents both passed away about four years ago, but I don't think of them as gone. I feel their presence and their thoughts all the time. As for what happens after we pass, I only feel that it's more complex than we think. Smiley Happy

Totally your own opinion. Many religions believe we will have to account for our actions on Earth after we die including most Christians. How can we if we don't recall anything that happened here once we're in the hereafter???

From your 3 posts here you're obviously trying to convince someone. Yourself, maybe? The OP asked if we had had visits and what were they like. She didn't ask for non-believers to voice their skepticism. Talk to any neurologist. There is so much they don't know about the brain. This quote is from a 2012 medical journal: understanding of the neurological framework that underlies memory is still largely incomplete.

I've never heard a clergy-person give a detailed account of what happens to the soul after death. I did have one tell me that my loved ones will always be with me. I choose to heed him and not you.

He meant your loved ones are with you in your mind - your memory.Whatever - believe whatever you please and I will do the same.

Re: Visits from those who have passed on

I'm firm in my faith -- however, I can't assume to know everything about the spiritual world. My church denomination offers direction, but does not provide definitive answers to my spiritual questions. I don't think the Creator reveals all spiritual secrets to us imperfect vessels. If we seek, grow, learn and keep an open mind I believe we'll be amazed. God can do anything and doesn't need our permission.
