What is a ""repositioning"" cruise?

An example is they are taking a cruise ship from the Caribbean and locating it in the Mediterranean for the Summer months. In the Fall they move ships back to the Caribbean and other US ports.

So glad you loved Rome! Makes me all the more excited for our trip to Italy in 2 1/2 weeks. How was the weather? Still going back & forth on clothes.

Was there many years ago. They were very strict. I had on a short sleeved dress and had to borrow a sweater from a friend. you could not wear shorts either.

They were very strict about the flashes from cameras as the light is dangerous to the art work. NO one was disrespectful.

So many people now have a sense of entitlement. I am happy that the guards threw them out.

"Has it always been like this or are we just degenerating more and more?"

There are many reasons for bad behavior the world over. In any crowd, there will be people who feel entitled, or are mentally unbalanced, perhaps on medication or under the influence of something. It would also seem logical that in tours where people may well be exhausted, that they aren't paying attention or, again, feel specially entitled because they are in a tour. I suspect the phone cameras have added to the notion of freedom of use, no matter where or when. People would probably holler and scream if they had to check in their phones and cameras before proceeding on such a tour.

Unfortunately no. If we had just arrived sooner on Sun (Palm Sunday no less), I could have gone to St. Peter's Square where he was giving a blessing. I wish we could have done that.

On both Sun and Monday, it was in the low 70's. Very comfortable.

I know you'll enjoy your trip!!

Sounds wonderful Dagna! Thanks for sharing.

(PS: people can be such clods and think the rules don't apply to them!)

For me the Vatican is both spectacular and overwhelming. The first time I visited St. Peter's, I wept. I've been fortunate to visit many times and received blessings from 2 Popes.

The Sistine Chapel receives innumerable tour groups. We've found many are Asian teenagers, many seem to want to be anywhere but there. It does get noisy until someone claps his hands and shouts SILENCE. Many years ago I had on a (subtle) Quacker Factory tank dress and cardigan. Suddenly I heard someone quacking at me in the Sistine Chapel.

It is without doubt the most moving place my DH and I have ever visited. Yes, people in the Sistine Chapel were disrespectful with cameras being taken away, SILENCE being told to people, etc., but what a magnificient place. I was sorry not to see the Pope but he had come out the day before we were there. What an experience to see all of the Vatican in its glory.
