Re: Vision and Hearing Tests as a Child

Those eye exams at school can pick up 'lazy eye' (amblyopia) but can also pick up myopia (near sightedness) too.

I used to volunteer at sons' preschool prior kindergarten entrance into school and do the exam with the kids. I told the parents the eye exam can pick up both problems but it takes an eye care professional to determine which problem it is (lazy eye vs. myopia).

Re: Vision and Hearing Tests as a Child

No.  No.  And No.  I was in the 6th grade.  I told the Teacher that I could not see the board.  She told me over and over that "I just wanted to sit up front....."  I was with my Dad one day and asked him what does that sign say?  He says, you mean you can't see that?  Nope, I can't.  He asked me about school, and I told him what the Teacher said.  I had glasses the next week.  I remember being amazed at how clear everything was...

Yes, I remember being tested.  I remember scoliosis exams too.
