Re: Vigil of the Princes

[ Edited ]

@Mz iMac - He was not. He was allowed to wear his ribbons.

Most commentators I've heard are saying he will not wear a uniform until the final formal funeral service. At that, both he and Prince Harry are supposed to be in uniform.

Prince Andrew served in the military 22 years; Prince Harry served 10.

ETA: I just read that Prince Andrew will be in uniform; Prince Harry is not expected to be. Of course King Charles will have the final say.

He was not allowed to wear one to Prince Phillip's funeral, he did wear his medals.  He served 22 years in military service as well as active service in the Falkland War.

@beach-mom  The commenters give a reason?  Only ribbons????   Why just PA at the vigil?

Princess Ann had on a uniform.  How many years did she serve in the military?

@fthunt  I have no clue as I do not know the UK royal protocol for funerals and/or vigils.

@Mz iMac Because neither are working Royals for entirely different reasons. I don't know who you are referring to by using PA.  All four of the Queens children participated in the Vigil of the Princes.

@Somertime  Thank you.  I didn't know just being a royal wasn't enough to wear a military uniform no matter how many years they served.  Interesting.

PA = Prince Andrew - no uniform

@Mz iMac She has never served in the military.  Here is the link that will explain it better than I could:  https://www.forces.net/news/princess-anne-70-military-titles-and-patronages
