A lot of women like to wear pretty panties and bras just for them.

Boxers and Jockey bras just don't have the same effect.

@QueenDanceALot  Interestingly, GQ magazine did a study many years ago about men’s preferences of women’s underwear. Surprisingly, many men found it sexy when women wore plain, white cotton panties. In 50 SHADES OF GREY, Anna wears those white cotton panties in the first few scenes.

I remember when VS sold beautiful items and true lingerie; silk, well made, feminine and just...gorgeous. They sold silk stockings and thigh-highs; I know because I own quite a few pairs of them. The sold the most luscious silk robes and porcelain tea sets, books of poetry, gorgeous pillows for the bedroom...excuse me, the Boudoir and everything else one could want to create a fantasy escape anywhere in their home. I own and love every holiday CD and as well as their store CD's they used to play; Classical Music selections performed by the London Philharmonic. Their bath line was excellent. Their packaging was excellent. And then....

it became cheap junk with PINK all over it.

I, like others here, enjoy and revel in my femininity and lingerie has always been a part of that. I have yet to have a man in my life not enjoy it as well. : )

@SahmIam  Calling like it is, VS is just not a classy lingerie store anymore. I used to wear their silky slip nighties. They still have a few at $60-$70. What? For polyester? We have a porn store nearby, Cherry Pie. Anyone remember my 1st trip in thinking it was a bakery? Anyway, many of VS underwear now reminds me of what they carry in there. If I want to purchase it, it’s 1/2 the price there & I don’t mind then if it doesn’t last that long.

Really???????????

@CLEM  Yes, really. I think the ads and mall store windows  when I walk by with my young granddaughters send the wrong message.

What message do you think that they are sending?

@mom2four0418  Nothing we more mature women don’t understand, but my almost 10 yr. old wanted to know why the mannequins in the window were so skinny and you can see through all their underwear & had big boobies. Reverse shaming? Unattainable images for younger girls? What are your ideas?

@Shanus

Yes, I can vouch for the plain white cotton panty thing.

And remember Bridget Jones?  Hugh wasn't exactly turned off by the granny panties.  hahaha

But I'm not giving up my feminine undies and lingerie because I can vouch for them, too!

Re: Victoria's Secret is "Out of Touch"

I love love love their Hi Cut Briefs, and when they have a sale they are very reasonably priced. They wear and wash up so well, I have been wearing them for years........I also like their nightshirts, but only when they have a good sale, otherwise they are too pricey....

Years ago I bought some body sprays from them that smelled really good as well....

Their models are so gorgeous and seem to do really well.....Giselle Bunchen for example.......

Re: Victoria's Secret is "Out of Touch"

Being plus size with a much larger cup size, VS was not a store I could ever shop at. I think refusing to recognize larger ladies that wear above a DD can hurt a company. Luckily Lane Bryant has really stepped it up with their Cacique line. I buy for comfort and support but if I wanted sexier lingerie, they offer a good variety of colors and styles.

@Shanus I taught my daughter not to buy into Madison Ave's spiel. Fantasy figures in a store window? Just not on her radar nor on mine.

Reverse shaming? I think our own attitudes are far more important in influencing our granddaughters. A glimpse of some mannequin in a store window? Hardly any influence except to be similar to a fairytale where fantasy is the message.

I have been wearing their high-cut briefs for many years.  I do think the quality has declined and so has the "waistline".  Those high cut briefs used to fit at or just below the belly button.  It's now a bikini, but they haven't changed the description.  I think it still says "sits at waistline" or did last time I got a catalogue.  That's been awhile though; they dropped me off their list, so now I never know when they put their panties on sale.  I just haven't found another line of panties that fit like theirs and have the different designs.

@CANDLEQUEEN, I don't know how long you've been wearing them, but when I first started wearing them they had no side seams.  Then, I read an aritcle about a lady who was sueing them for stealing her method for making panties without side seams (she had pitched the design to them, but they didn't buy it).  Not long after that, they started having side seams.

I have never been able to wear their bras.  I don't want heavy padding, just fiberfill, but I also don't want full coverage.  I prefer demi bras with fiberfill and underwire.  But, even their fiberfills just didn't fit me right.  They needed more coverage on the sides of the cups.  I'm an A/slightly B.  And I'm not a C-cup wannabe.  I like mine small.  They don't get in the way or bounce with sports, and they don't sag.

@Cumbercookie13, they also pretty much don't recognize the A-cuppers.  I remember many years ago seeing a lacy bra in their catalogue I could actually wear.  I went into the store looking for said bra.  The sales lady looked at me and said in a demeaning tone "we have these 2 styles in a A-cup."  They looked like training bras.  I wanted to cry.  I just wanted a pretty bra.
