It is very easy to partake in public displays.
It is quite another when the day ends to reflect on those who still carry the memories of service, with quiet humility.

No other nation tht produces good boy who will go and fight and a nation with so much opportuity, priviledges, and rights.

Thanks for starting this thread @Cakers3! We have a lot of veterans and retired military personnel in our family, mostly Army and Air Force. 

I always think of DH's uncle, whom he is named for, who is still officially MIA from WWII. His plane went down near the Philippines right before the end of WWII. They know where it is but can't get to it. The professor in charge of a group who searches for missing aircraft said if the funding goes through they might try again in 2026. We are hopeful. 

Day is done 

Gone the sun

From the lakes 

From the hills 

From the skies 

All is well 

Safely rest

God is nigh
