I am so sorry for your loss. My best friend since 8th grade died suddenly a couple of years ago, do I truly feel for you. Sending you a big hug. You must be a wonderful person to have maintained such s long friendship.

I have 2 best friends. The 3 of us have been besties since 1970.  I honestly don't know how I could bear losing either one.

Nananana59, my heart sincerely goes out to you.  We have a level of understanding and intimacy with best friends, that, as wonderful as our families can be- there is nobody that compares to your best friend.

Now is the time for tears, but I hope you remember all the wonderful times you had together.  She left an imprint on your soul and in your heart.

Nobody can ever take those wonderful memories from you.

Why don't you write a letter to her about what she meant to you: maybe you would like to share it with her family and friends, or maybe not....there's just something about that process that's healing.

@nana59 I'm so very sorry and having been there, I know how difficult this is for you. I lost my long time friend last year and we had been friends for almost 60 years. I felt like someone cut my right arm off. Please take care and God bless.
