My son had a concierge dr. in NYC.  Some people like him think it is worth it just to be seen on time.

BTW, health insurance is not really meant to pay everyday kinds of things.  It is so expensive because of hospital costs.  For many, going to the hospital leads to bankruptcy.  That is why most people must have it.  People had the false idea that the ACA plans would pay for themselves on the everyday things.  That was never true.
