@Shelbelle Something I don't get is why, when I search for the Days of Our Lives thread, in the suject box are at least 3 DAYS topics. One day by mistake I clicked on a 2010 title!!! I couldn't believe what I was reading! Then I realized I was reading something from 14 years ago? Why oh why do they keep those in the topics?

Another thought, I went looking for information about something I needed help with. I saw an older thread and I simply answered for more advive. It was on Among Friends or perhaps Community Chat. I got good answers that actually solved my problem and allowed me to move forward with my situation about my car. Apparently my car issue went back as far 2014.
@bonnielu - I couldn't agree more! Many times I've bought a fashion item that was a TSV years ago, or a beauty set, or a food item, etc. The "older" threads are often filled with advice! I bought a food item and couldn't find advice on how to fix it. The online presentation didn't show it. The vendor's website didn't show it. But in an older thread my forum friends had discussed it and said how they fixed it! That helped me!
@beach-mom and @bonnielu,
I know for sure your intentions are good, honorable, and well-meaning.😊
The problem is that the return on bumping old threads for good intentions is not just a diminishing return it's usually a loss for everyone.
As long as the threads are not bumped, they remain as reference for everyone to find and to read.
Once they're bumped, nearly 100% will only last a brief time.
Then, when the moderators see them, they'll delete them more often than just locking/closing them...
and then they're lost to everyone, completely.
Not only do we lose that thread, we might put our posting privileges in peril if we do it with any frequency.
Also, with every old-thread-bump, we give the moderators more work to do (I know, maybe it's "just one thread," but it adds up...
and I'm aware that some posters think the moderators aren't busy, but they are (they do a heck of a lot more than just monitor the Community),
and the more we make the forums a chore the closer we come to not just a temporary closure like the one we experienced before but a permanent "the forums are closing, please join us on Facebook and Instagram, bye-bye" message.)
The other issue is one mentioned earlier in this thread:
the terms we agree to by using QVC's forums say do not bump old discussions.
In good conscience, to me it seems we are obliged to do our best to follow the guidelines as evidence of common courtesy and good energy.
Sure, we can disagree with a policy if we want, but we should ask the powers-that-be to change the one(s) with which we disagree rather than continuing to ignore them, confusing people by pulling up old conversations that might no longer be accurate or applicable, causing us to lose old threads forever, and adding to the moderators work (and possibly aggravation).
I know, not everyone will agree with me, but having had experience moderating an international forum and also being aware that nearly every moderated forum prohibits bumping (they often call it "necroposting," common term in netiquette discussions and posting guidelines), I think it's worth giving some thought and consideration.
Good wishes to everyone who reads and posts here!🌻

The simple answer is that the Q forums run on "canned" prepackaged software platform, it is a basic product with few bells and whistles, it is managed technically-speaking only barely enough to keep it open, and the moderators have told us they expect no new upgrades.
It's simple "programming 101" (it would take very, very little time to create and implement) to generate a process that would do a daily loop through all threads and lock all of those which (for example's sake) have no new posts in the past year...
This would preserve the old threads for us to read, and it would avoid any bumping, but adding this process isn't part of this platform, and they're not likely to add any customization.

When the mods see them, they are eventually locked or removed.
I can't say they "bother" me, @Mersha.
Although I can say I'm sorry to see the old threads completely deleted and lost to us just because someone decided to bump them.
Same thing with hyperlinks. We lose good threads and posts due to these 2 things which are so simple to avoid.
So I guess I'm not bothered, but I do cringe and sigh each time it happens.🌻

I think it's good that some posters have distinguished between "continuous" and "old" threads.
I'm sure we all know that there are very long threads that have been posted to daily and should be left alone. (Those threads are not a case of bumping, they are active.)
But I'm in the group that gets annoyed, when I find myself responding to a question or request for advice, only to realize the thread is years old - sometimes more than 10 years old. Not all of us immediately check out the original date, if a thread appears in the recent pages.
If someone searches for a subject, doesn't find the information he or she needs in an old thread, then start a new one. As others have pointed out, bumping is against forum policy. (IMO, threads that haven't been posted to for years should be locked.)
I've also noticed that often "bumped" threads happen in spurts, it seems by the same poster. Coincidental, perhaps? But if a poster doesn't know how to start a new thread, it's time to learn.

@Shelbelle This is a question about very old threads but not bothered by them at all just curious.
What comes to mind are the Pot Sticker Soup, Preds and Schmoo one tough cookie fighter threads.
By only glancing through them they seem to be in honor of the original poster?
I still post on Potsticker!!
We have all become great friends and still share LOTS of great recipes.
The continuation of our thread has nothing to do with the original poster.
PLease leave our thread alone, we are not breaking any forum rules and always abide by the standards set forth.
It is a continuing thread....NOT a resurrected one.
I see NO reason to be annoyed or report a thread that has re-popped unless there is a rash of it happening for no reason by a troll.
Many here including myself search for old topics, old recipes, old advice and may now have something to add.
Just pass it by!!!!!!
@RespectLife You have me confused with @Shelbelle I think, in no way would I consider suggesting ending a thread.
It was just a question about the origination of the threads ![]()

@on the bay wrote:I don't think anyone is referring to the long standing threads that are posted on every day like the ones you mentioned. Those are fine.
It's the ones that had nothing years ago and all of a sudden are resurrected. Some of the posters on the original thread are long gone.
Thank you @on the bay I appreciate the info, always wondered the history behind them ![]()

Please lock them, you can always start a new one. It irks me no end to spend all that tme reading and then find out it is obsolete information. There used to be a date posted, I thought, on the original thread so we would see it immediately. I must pay more attention.

From experience here, I can tell you that the reason this happens (some of the time) is that someone starts a new thread and as they're typing the title, other previous threads pop up, so to avoid duplication, they hop onto that thread.
I've done it when the last entry was a year ago, and had no idea when the first post was started.
Since duplicate thread topics are often deleted I'm guessing this is why people might do this. At least, that's why I did it.
