Very Eerie driving around today (Post Hurricane)

[ Edited ]

Felt like the days of the pandemic shutdown.

I had to go to a friends to help her and it's a "ghost town" nothing is open until Friday -- thankfully the storm missed our area.

It was just a wierd feeling...

and I continue to pray for those who were impacted.  We have a friend whose family is in Fort Myers's area he was going up today to bring them generator, fix his roof with tarps, etc.

We donated him cases of water from the community that were no longer needed to take with him.

Pictures from the Fort Myers area are devestating!

So happy it slowed once it came ashore.  Family has a home on Lil Gasparilla.  The Placida marina was completely destroyed!  Hope they still have a house!

People in central and western Florida were not prepared and have a lot of damage.  Prayers for all in path.

@Zhills

I am praying for them I just saw the devastation and heard there is no Verizon service in the area.  I heard from my family in Venice (Englewood area) the area is flooded & no power but they are fine, thank God.

My heartfelt sympathy for all those throughout Florida that have been impacted. I ache for Sanibel. I hope most had evacuated. I loved my trips there. Shell collecting was one of my hobbies since childhood and going over to Sanibel was special to me. The Governor was flown over Sanibel and he said the flooding was biblical. The expectation that the storm was headed north to Tampa might have cause less evacuations from Sanibel. The causeway...the only way in or out, has collapsed at three locations. For anyone trying to reach Naples, the cell towers are down and there is no cell service. Crews are on their way bringing portable towers. Central Florida has some areas with rising water that were not expecting flooding. Not all storms are very wet. For example, Andrew was dry. Ian is very wet.

Those of us that went through Sandy know what these poor people are going through. It is devastating. It looks like a somebody dropped a bomb. Everything is shut down, no power. My prayers are with all of you.

Especially those that lost everything. We don't know what the fatalities are yet. My heart goes out to all involved.

@homedecor1et al, we are watching horrified at the destruction this storm has brought.  I have vacationed for thirty plus years on Sanibel Island and southwest Florida.  My sister lived in Englewood for many years.  Sending prayers for all affected.  LM

@manny2  I lived in CT then, right along the shoreline and watched my house be carried out to sea... My heart broke that day,

I had one person on here saying she was glad I lost it...

I will never forget that day , Her words hurt more than me watching my house drift away.

Sandy was not nice to us people that day.

Now we are here in FL, going through it all over again.

Actually we got lucky this time.

Lights flickered for a few seconds but that was it.

God had mercy on  us this time around...

We are listing our home here and headed back North,,

This was enough for me..

I wish everyone else much luck, things will get better,,,,

@pieman    I'm so sorry someone here said that to you.  The callousness of some thoughless people boggles the mind.  The mods should have instantly banned that poster.
