Verizon upgrade fee?!?!?

Did anyone know about Verizon's upgrade fee?? I was looking for a new cell phone and they tacked on an upgrade fee of $30! This is for any new 2 year contract where you would want a new phone, whether or not it's an "upgrade" to a better one.

I was not happy with this as I believe they already charge too much! The phone I want does not have any additional features than my current one either!
