A split second decision? Like in a drunk driver killing an innocent other driver on the same road? The Armorer had the responsibility for ALL the weapons and ammunition on the set to daily inspect them, secure them, teach the actors and others to respect and handle them properly, and to purchase and store them correctly. If any part of her actions / responsibilities were not performed properly, it is negligence that can and did cost a life.
@NYwoman Yes, a careless split second decision for her NOT to perform the proper safety steps as per her duty. I do not think she pondered it. 😐 A life was taken, and hers will be forever changed because of it! I concur with your post!😊

I agree, I don't think that the Armorer deliberately sought to harm anyone. But the complete way she performed her job was sloppy and negligent. Unfortunately, this led to the death of an innocent person. Whether this was due to incompetence, neglect, her condition (drugs / alcohol use), her attitude, really doesn't matter legally. She chose her level of competence in her job. It was a consciencous decision to neglect her duties for whatever reason. Her stupid decisions will cost her dearly and that is sad.

@Sassycoco It was determined that she brought the live rounds on set. There are several detailed articles on several news outlets.😊 Tragic all around, because it was SO preventable.😔

I'm behind the times, I know.......
Are there a lot of people who actually are interested in Westerns now-a-days?
I often run across retro Westerns, but just pass them by.
My dear dad used to like to watch them.....he was totally 'opposite' in his demeanor, etc., but enjoyed watching those old-time Western movies and TV series.

Judging by the popularity of Yellowstone and all its iterations, I'd say Western still draw a big auduence.

This might be a stupid question....
Is there a reason to even have live bullets ,on the set ?
I believe they were filming in a remote, desert-like area where things like rattlesnakes could pose a risk to the cast and crew. They weren't filming inside a secure studio on a production company's lot. Wildlife can pose a significant threat in certain areas, so having a loaded weapon isn't necessarily a bad thing. I believe I read where they also relaxed by target shooting. You can't target-shoot with blanks.
Regardless of everything else, the last thing you ever do is point a gun, loaded or otherwise, at someone and pull the trigger. Even if the gun is known to be loaded with blanks, you don't point the gun at someone and pull the trigger. Camera angles are selected to let it appear you're pointing the gun at someone, but in fact, you're not.
A lot went wrong on that set with blame to go around to multiple people. The ultimate responsibility falls on the guy who pulled the trigger though. Nothing else matters if he doesn't point the gun at her and pull the trigger. Everything else that went wrong wouldn't matter if he'd done the right thing. He didn't.
