Verdict in Conn. Home Invasion Trial

NOTE: So far Komisarjevsky has been found GUILTY in 10 of the 17 charges, making him eligible for the death penalty.

"NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Jurors have reached a verdict in the trial of a Connecticut man charged with killing a woman and her two daughters in a brutal suburban home invasion.

Joshua Komisarjevsky (koh-mih-sar-JEV'-skee) could join his co-defendant on Connecticut's death row if convicted of the 2007 attack, in which Jennifer Hawke-Petit was strangled and her daughters were tied up and left to die in a house fire.

The same jury would decide whether he should receive a death sentence if he is convicted of any capital felony charges. The 31-year-old paroled burglar faces 17 charges including murder, kidnapping and sexual assault.

Komisarjevsky has blamed co-defendant Steven Hayes for killing the family, but prosecutors say it took both men to carry out the crime and they portrayed Komisarjevsky as the leader. Hayes was convicted last year."
