Re: Vegans Sue Burger King Over Impossible Burger

Most vegans I know do it to minimize animal suffering. Not for health. Though some play up the health aspect as well.

A bunch of vegans are suing Burger King because they want to have their Impossible Burgers their way ... pristine, without any meat residue on the grill.

Phillip Williams just filed a class-action lawsuit, claiming the burger giant advertises the Impossible Burger as a vegan alternative to its meat burgers, yet they're all cooked on the same grill.

Williams says his burger was contaminated by meat byproducts. He bought the burger in question in ATL.

The lawsuit says Burger King has no disclosures on its menu that would notify a consumer prior to the purchase of the Impossible Whopper that it was cooked in a manner that would result in meat by-products on the burger.

He notes there have been numerous complaints posted online by outraged vegans.

Williams not only wants damages ... he wants the judge to order Burger King to stop cooking Impossible Burgers and the OG burgers on the same grill.

Damages for what????

It's true what previous posters have said--the burger was never advertised as vegan. After all, the burger comes slathered in mayo! Smiley Very Happy

Any cross contamination would be insignificant.  It's just that vegans get nauseated by the sight of meat especially raw so maybe it's the thought of cross contamination that is disturbing.  In fact, in light of the news that the impossible burger is contaminated by roundup, meat eaters could file a lawsuit saying their meat burger is contaminated with that carcinogenic poison.

@ann1989 Lots of places add a grain product such as a cereal or bread crumbs or other fillers to meat sold as a hamburger.  It is not at all uncommon--unless they advertise it as 100 percent beef or turkey or whatever.

You also would have a hard time proving the filler was carcinogenic, and a lot of grains do have traces of chemicals in them, as do a lot of produce not advertised as organic.

My dad was always on the lookout for places that put filler in burgers.  Many were off his list because of that!  LOL!!!

@Porcelain

Still surprises me that some still thinks it's 'healthy'.

Re: Vegans Sue Burger King Over Impossible Burger

Just noticed the comment that the man suing for damages wants Burger King to use separate grills. Burger King did not advertise the burger as vegan but they have advertised online that if you want a vegan burger you must ask for it without mayo and to have it cooked in their oven rather than on the grill with the other burgers. Sounds easy enough to me. And no lawyer needed to figure it out.

It's a shame this guy could be giving vegans a bad name by making them look like idiots. I hope people will realize this is just a fool looking for more than fast food--he's looking for a fast buck.

One of the many reasons I do not eat meat,or fowl,or sea food is because I cannot stand the taste or smell of the above.

I am pescatarian( basically vegetarian that sometimes eats seafood) and have tried the Impossible Burger because it is touted as being plant based. The taste and texture are close to that of meat. I have stayed away since, after learning of all the conflicting information surrounding it( google it ). I can understand vegans concerns relating to the preparation of it. I will stick to making my spicy black bean and mushroom burgers for now. My meat eating brother laughs at the thought of a "fake but healthy" Whopper.😂😂

It's "fake" but it's certainly not healthy.
