Re: Vegan Australian woman sues neighbor over meat smells from barbecuing...

So, a thread about one woman and the dumb thing she did turns into a vegan bashfest.

I'm out.

I'm not vegan and I don't like the smell of meat on the grill.

A little off topic but many years ago we almost bought a home in a new HOA subdivision and the selling agent pointed out in the CCR’s that there were no bbq’s allowed in the neighborhood. We could take our food 2 miles to the park and bbq there but not in our back yard. When asked why she told us in case your neighbor is a vegetarian, vegan or whatever I might offend them with my cooking smells. Needless to say we did not buy that house.

I suppose I would consider it if the vegans were prevented from cooking cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and broccoli with open windows. Those smells are gag worthy.

@cherry   I've posted about animal by-products before and was ripped for it.

Vegan isn't just about food; it's about no animal products AT ALL.  No leather, no personal products containing any animal by-products.

I'm not talking about "No animal testing".

Where do peopel think leather and other by products in shampoos, lotions, etc. come from?

The same animals people boo-hoo over and look down on others who do not follow a vegan way of eating.

Either you are a full-fledged vegan or not.

That includes by-products derived from fish, too.

It's like the "save the forests" people who go so far as to burn down logging businesses but publish their propaganda on PAPER and live in WOOD houses furnished with WOOD items.

@Cakers3

I understand what you are saying....

My sister has a friend that's a vegan....and I told my sister that I understand her friend is doing this out of her love for animals...When she joins us for lunch she even eats a DRY salad or steamed veggies.....BUT the hypocritical thing is she feeds her cat wet cat food where you can clearly even see chunks of beef, chicken, turkey, salmon, and fish....And what about her leather handbags .....GO FIGURE.......As much as I love animals, vegan just wouldn't work since I have pets that are carnivores ....

-------------------------------------

Pets, dogs and cats, are carnivores, by nature.  They cannot lead a healthy life, on a plant based diet.

It would be animal abuse to force a vegan diet on a dog or cat.

Are you saying she shouldn't have pets?

She must found an attorney from an ad on the side of a bus. Maybe the neighbor should use Beyond Meat and cook those on the grill....then they can have vegan smells?

Unfortunately, it was cancelled.

But the organizers are asking those who wanted to go

to donate to the Australian Farmers Charity, Drought Angels.

I can't stand the smell of bbq either. It's a nightly thing around here. Sometimes it gets so bad because there are several grills going at the same time and all around my house in each direction...it stinks!  But I would never sue someone because of that.

Re: Vegan Australian woman sues neighbor over meat smells from barbecuing...

My very first apartment was a tiny studio apartment with a communial kitchen shared by three other apartments.

One of my kitchen-mates was vegan, and I was not, never have been.

Anyway, one day I decided to cook some meat.

From one of the apartments that I shared the kitchen with, smelled my cooking of the meat.

And from his apartment, I could hear him say, "Meat! Meat! Meat!"Woman LOL

I guess I was lucky he didn't decide to sue me!Woman LOL
