I ordered the Valerie par hill 3 piece glass Christmas tree with lights. I just opened them to start decorating for Christmas and noticed that the star is damaged. I did an online chat I paid $60 for them and she told me I was only able to get back 5.00. I bought it in august of 2023. They are now out of stock. I love them and want to keep them but only offering 5.00 back is ridiculous!!

The 30 day window for returns had expired. If you had opened it when you got it to check it out, you could have sent it back as defective and gotten a full return including S&H.

@Jlg2000 No, it's not ridiculous...there is a 30 day return window, and you didn't bother to open & check out your purchase. That's on you!

I have bought Christmas things that light up in January--but I always open & test them within a week after arrival, so I can return if necessary.

One of the things about buying Christmas items 6 or so months before Christmas is that you need to carefully check out the product. I got an item last July and didn't want to open it, keeping it safely packed away until I was ready to decorate. Something told me to just check, which I did, and it was a shattered Christmas tree. I was able to return it, although the item had sold out so I couldn't get a replacement, within the 30 day return policy. It's always good to at least open fragile items right away. Sorry this happened to you, I know it was discouraging for you.

I did check it but I guess I didn’t notice it, until I actually put the batteries in. Guess I should just take the 5.00 then

@Jlg2000

I'm sorry about this for you.

Your decision to take the $5 (only) depends upon what is important to you...

For me, it might be worth it because I have limited storage space.

Or you could try to sell it on eBay, etc?

It is not fair, I agree, but we have the responsibility of knowing THE FULL RETURN POLICY when we purchase. (Believe me, I feel your pain with this.)

Another thought: in my opinion, buying online has gotten more and more COMPLICATED.

'These days I'm thinking twice before buying.
