In New Jersey the problem is booking the appointment & a lack of vaccine. We are densely populated in the northern part of the state. It’s actually closer for me to go over the GW Bridge but NY only vaccinates their residents tho my physicians are in NYC. We have 6 mega sites and hospitals with vaccine. From reports of my vaccinated friends, all of the sites were well run, clean, Covid protocols in place and they all report 30 min for the total experience with 15 minutes for observation. All were pleased and the national guard is at mega sites in some cases.

@happycat,I shudder to think that people are getting turned in to various authorities without any proof. So, in this case, a friend's dad has a friend who is a pharmacist who supposedly gave himself a vaccination and he's around 60. And this story was passed on to a Walgreen's clerk who suggested the state's pharmacist association should be notified. Am I reading this right?

I sure hope this is not what we've come to with these vaccinations. SMH.

Yes you are reading this right.  No one is getting turned in becuase I don't know what pharmacy it was.

It is very, very difficult where I live for the 70 and older crowd to get the shot. If I knew who this pharmacist was, yes, I would turn him in.

This age group is the the main one in my state who are dyingMay not mean anything to you, but it does to me.

What we have turned into is a bunch of people who only care about ourselves. Have you not heard of very wealthy people who are not elderly or health care workers mangaing to get the vaccine ahead of others? There was a story on the news about that early this week.

The pharmacies here state they are getting between 100 and 200 doses a week sometimes. If they are giving those to their family and friends that doesn't leave much for the ones who qualify.

SMH right back at ya. Have a good day.

Our governor is giving doses to huge corporations so they can vaccinate their employees while medical workers, teachers, and the elderly go without.

What irks me the most are politicians who were first in line but had lied about covid, ignored it all last year, and covered up the government's lack of action.

This whole vaccine distribution program has been a disgusting fiasco.  You'd think with all the experience we've had with disasters, we could have done much better.

Hmm...I wonder who people will place the blame on now?

Don't even try, @Ladybug724

It's a fair question, just sayinSmiley Wink

@Ladybug724, actually it's both baiting and political.

Assuming that you were asking a fair question, here is a fair answer: The stated goal of 100 million shots in 100 days has been exceeded by almost half again as many. @Ladybug724. Not too shabby even if it's been difficult.

Did anyone actually that such unprecedented enterprise would be easy?

That's good info. And you're right, no one said it would be easy. This is a monumental undertaking. And I always enjoy reading your posts.

But--and not to be argumentative, just stating a fact-that's isn't really an answer to my question.Smiley Happy

There have always been and always will be people who cheat and lie to get what they want; they are called selfish.  No system is perfect and some will do anything to beat the system.  Sad but true; its the world we live in.

I don't think I would be that quick to jump on an experimental vaccine that certain of America's wealthiest are wanting population control.

And I read today that there is now a demand to vaccinate all the Federal workers in this area (DC/MD/VA) due to their essentiality.

I guess this applies to those working at home (the majority) as well.

The line for those of us 65+ looks to be getting longer.

Giving priority to teachers - who still want to stay home worked so well, I guess we had to expand the essential population.

There are people available who are not vaccinating; those who are checking people in and scheduling the second shot appointments. They use computers; it should be easy to keep a count. If they can't accomplish that then I have no confidence that the vaccine is being properly handled.

@occasionalrain , I have no doubt none of this is being properly handled.

If appointments are scheduled, why would there be long lines? Have they scheduled everyone for the same time? If so, then they are beyond inept. Those in Group A are seniors, many with health conditions, disabilities. They can't  be expected to wait in line for hours.

@occasionalrain , well they are expected to wait in line for hours.  People are driving for hours to get a shot only to be turned away even though they have an appointment.

I don't live in a huge city.  Someone I know took his mom to get the shot and waited in line for 3 hours. His mom is 96.   It was a drive through so they were inside a car.  My friend took her mom. She waited on the same day for 5 hours. Her mom is 92.

Some people in line that day waited that long and were turned away because the place ran out of the vaccines.
