Could it have to do with the type of work your husband does?

None of the pharmacies in my state have it yet, but the County Health Departments do, or can tell them who does.

There is an article released today by CBS about when pharmacies might have it.

Such a load off my shoulders. I'm so lucky to still have both my parents and I refuse to lose them to this stupid virus if possible.

In fact, all the most vulnerable in my extended family are either vaccinated or scheduled for their shots! I feel victorious on their behalf, even though I didn't do much. I'm just so glad we've all gotten through this alive so far.

Edited: I need to add to this. Not that anyone but me cares.

There is one vulnerable homebound person in my extended family who needs to have the shot come to her at home, who has not received or scheduled it. But I am not involved in that. I would try to help if asked though.

Are any of the elderly people where you live able to get shots yet?

It may have to do with it, he works at a nuclear power plant. He is an essential worker, but there are others who must be there, while he can and has primarily been working from home. There are just not enough shots.

I have heard that in my state Wal Mart is suppose to get doses tomorrow, and the folks 70 and up will be able to call and make appointments. I'm hoping that things can start moving quicker for folks who are needing and wanting them.

It's too soon to say that the vaccine caused this condition.

From the New York Times:

@Porcelain, I hope that person in your family is able to get the shot. I don't know of any facility going to people's houses in my state to administer the vaccine. Is anyone doing that where you live? It seems like something the health dept would do, possibly.

They already had established systems for distributing the seasonal vaccine to drug stores, doctors, and in-store pharmacies and should have begun there before this mad rush to set up mass distribution centers. Now the normal vaccine providers, those who know what they're doing, aren't receiving the vaccine they've been promised.

The whole operation is upside down and backwards.

I live in a state with, last I heard, had the second highest elderly population. We rank 46th in vaccine distribution.

My sister lives in a village in upstate NY. She said her pharmacy received 100 doses. There aren't 100 people in this village.

Laughable if it wasn't so sad and deadly serious.

Thank you! I hope so too. It's not my place to get too involved in it. Family who is closer to her is more in charge. I haven't seen any programs in her state that are giving in-home vaccinations yet. I keep on the lookout so I can pass along the info when I see it.

She does occasionally have to go out to get treatments from a specialist, and she's indicated she wants the shot then, if they can't come to the house. But none of us can magically make that happen at this point. I hope we can soon.

I'm retired but my employer has about 7,000 employees in this area. They are getting vaccines but teachers, EMS, fire, police, and the elderly aren't. Grocery store workers aren't even considered essential workers here. It's all political favor instead of caring about the people.
