Since the beginning of the pandemic I have gone to grocery stores, limited Dr. Appointments and starting in May of last year hair appointments. I have been very careful and have always worn a mask and kept away from crowds. My husband and I have received both vaccine shots. So far we have avoided getting Covid. In the past 12 months we have gone out to dinner 4 times. The restaurants are very careful to space customers out. We wear masks to enter the restaurant, to order and to pay the check and exit the restaurant. We always sit in a booth. Haven't traveled yet but we are planning to take a trip to visit my daughter in Chicago soon. I think we will be wearing masks for a long time. This has kept most of us safe from Covid and from the seasonal flu and other viruses. Vaccines and masks are the way out of this disaster.

I don't expect the president to say that any time soon. I will follow my local health department rules instead of going by what he says.

I don't really care what he says , so not waiting for his announcement. If left to him we would be wearing masks till the end of time ! I consider myself an intelligent person and know what I must do to keep myself safe , washing hands, masks and social distancing. We have been seeing family members now and then all this past year , and going to our favorite family resturant mostly. I will not live in isolation it is unhealthy to not see people and socialize somewhat . I do understand being afraid I feel the news though causes a lot of people to be frantic about this . Cautious is necessary, but I don't personally feel we should lock ourselves away . That's just my opinon , others should do what they feel is right for them.
Purely political and not based on fact at all.
Well I guess we shall see . It's what I think anyways and I'm sticking with it .
Thinking something is fine; making up something, not so much. Besides, my main point is that we supposedly are to avoid political comments here.

I have never been afraid to get out and go about my normal routine and certainly not now. I am still on the fence as to whether or not I will even take the vaccine. My doctor told me that even she would not be rushing out to get it. I refuse to live in fear and personally, sick of all the never-ending media talk about it.

Life is too short to not enjoy the things you love to do. I will take the risk because when my time is up at least I had my freedom. That's more important to me. I know I'm in the minority and if you feel uncomfortable going out that is your right.

SilleeMee:
I totally agree.
A couple of new variants, etc.
We still must be somewhat careful.
I've heard that it takes a couple of weeks after the vaccination for full protection. I could be wrong, though.
So many rumors and bits of info here and there.
Keep safe, and enjoy life. ![]()

We will get our second shots tomorrow. I enjoyed restaurant meals several times a week before covid, but I think it will take a while for me to relax enough to enjoy that activity again.
I am sick to death of cooking day in and day out though. Luckily my husband will cheerfully eat whatever I put in front of him and cook simple meals for himself when asked.
Honestly I do not see my life changing much for now although I will see one of my son's and his family 😊

Husband was at grocery store, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. almost every day during the past year. We also went on vacation last summer. We always wear a mask out and in stores as it is required. And we also visited family. Tomorrow our restaurants open to 90% capacity.
I am not being confrontational, @proudlyfromNJ, but I am surprised about your comfort with dining out since you had mentioned that you had friends who died from covid.

I loved going to a movie then out at one of the many restaurants at Bellevue Square for an early dinner (especially Wild Ginger). I just can't imagine being comfortable doing that for quite awhile.
