Why aren't these animals being protected? I'm heartbroken. This from the Daily Mail:
"The son of Cecil the Lion has been shot dead by a big game hunter - two years after his father was killed, it has emerged.
Xanda, a six-year-old male, was killed just outside Hwange National Park in north west Zimbabwe - near the spot where Cecil died two years ago.
Authorities were able to identify the animal - believed to be Cecil's oldest cub -because it had been fitted with an electronic tag."
You can read the entire article on the Daily Mail's website.

Have they identified the "big game hunter"?

Do they kill it and just leave it? I would think they would take it for their trophy.

That is Cecil in Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. Not sure when it was taken. I don't know if the lady is his mate or just happened to be in the photo.

Clearly it is. A lioness doesn't have a mane.
Heartbreaking news about cecil's son.

hahaha Who ever thought, assumed, or even implied it was a lioness?
I asked because I didn't know if it was Cecil or one of Cecil's adult offspring.
You are very funny, @Ms tyrion2

According to the Washington Post, "Lion guardians said Xanda was killed during a hunt organized by Richard Cooke Safaris."
Xanda was just over 6 years old and leaves a family of several cubs.
