I think this is bad. I feel so strongly about it that I think company rules should be in place to not allow sick people to work.

There are a lot of ifs w/this.

You don't know the balancing acts a coworker may have.  A little kindness and a bag of lozenges would be a lot nicer than complaining.  She doesn't really like being there when sick either.

Re: VENT: My Co-Worker Showed Up Sick!!!

Maybe the 72 year old woman needs the $$.

Following her around with gloves and Lysol, etc. is rude, imo.

There will always be sick people showing up at work/school.

And just an fyi:  People are contagious BEFORE they show symptoms in many situations.

Not to mention people who do not wash their hands after using the restroom or coughing, etc. touching your "stuff" at work.

She's not the only one like that.  Every job has that problem and it is recognized as a problem but there is nothing management can do about it.  Manages cannot demand that a sick employee go home.  Yes, she'll probably be at work tomorrow. Honking and coughing and snorting and spreading her germs around the office.  Often it's the people who use up their sick days as soon as they get them and when they need a couple, they don't have any.
