Re: Upset about losing earring

@drizzellla

Nope, no bonus. We got along great other those months until she got over it.

Fact today is her "Heavenly Birthday", she would have been 96 years old. She died exactly 1 month before her 91st birthday, July 13, 2016. Very sad day for my wife today! I miss her also for many reasons.

I went out to lunch with friends today. Only the second time we got together since the quarantine. Was so happy to get together.

Wore a pair of really nice peridot and white gold earrings. Finally got to wear some of my better attire.

After lunch I passed a Sam's Club. Decided to stop because we needed a few items. When I entered they recommended that masks be worn. I wore my mask.

About an hour ago I realized I was missing my left earring. Looked all over the house. No earring. I am quite sure that I lost the earring when I put my mask on or off. I had put it on and it slipped off my left ear so I had to slip the elastic around the left ear again.

There is alot going on around my ears. I wear glasses and over the ear hearing aids. And then add the elastic for masks.

So please be mindful of earrings when taking masks on and off. I wish I had.

I almost lost my hearing aid like that.  Luckly, it was on the floor of my vehicle.  Now I check my ear every time i have to take a mask off.

@drizzellla I'm sorry that happened. Did you look everywhere in your car? That's where I would look.

ETA: For fancier earrings, I'd recommend choosing the kind with screwbacks. You could also consider locking earring backs.

Yes, I looked in the car. Since it was the left earring I only had to look around the drivers seat. I did not have to worry about the center console.

When I worked I was always losing my earrings. I would be on the phone and then latter I would notice that I was missing an earring. Sometimes I found it sometimes not. I now have a dish of single earrings. I like the earrings too much to throw out and many are gold or silver.

I wish that I bought locking earring backs many years ago. My collection of singles wouldn't be as large.

I completely relate! They are like socks. I have so many lonely single studs I can't bear to part with either.

Darn!    Since wearing masks, I only wear lever back earrings.   I figure I have a pretty good chance of keeping them on.

Oh, do I know that feeling. When I first started wearing hearing aids, I would send them flying across the bedroom.

Every time I took off a top over my head. Off the hearing aid would fly. I am getting better and not doing that as often.

Re: Upset about losing earring

I know the feeling. Around 6 years ago, I took my dog for a short walk - then I went to my mailbox, which is a community mailbox on the side of my house.

A while later, I realized that I lost one of my favorite 18KT gold 1-1/4" round hoop earrings with the snap bar that I purchased from the Q several years prior..

I then went to the 2 areas I walked - no earring.

Around 3 years later, I saw the same earrings on Costco's website - except they're 14KT gold. I ordered it immediately and they're identical in size and width - except they're not 18KT.

I'm still trying to figure out how it fell out of my ear.

Re: Upset about losing earring

Desertdi, is there a place to purchase the silicone backs in quantity? They always come with earrings with a hook (shepherd’s hook, etc.), on a card. Have bought hundreds at local art and wine events over the years. Silly me, I thought they were just there to keep the earrings attached to the cards, and I threw them all away as I wore the earrings!! What was I thinking? I have packages of the plastic disk backs, but no silicone “pillows.”

Re: Upset about losing earring

I feel your pain @drizzellla I dropped an earring because of the mask but I was still at home. I only wear hoop earrings, different sizes but lately, I rarely wear earrings for that reason.
