I am doing some slight update to my kitchen including adding tile/glass backsplash that goes with the brown/cream/black granite counter-tops, painting, and fixing up the shoe molding. I am also looking at maybe painting or staining my cabinets but am not sure what to do exactly.

My kitchen is small (it's a condo) and the cabinets are a light yellowish wood that almost mastch the flooring which is a soft blonde wood shade. I have white appliances. I was thinking of painting the cabinets white to make the space look bigger and brighter and do pair nicely with the counter, backsplash and floor, but would that look tacky with the appliances? Any other ideas?
