I updated mine 2 yrs ago to the star in the right hand corner.

also, going to get a new passport. That Passport is golden. Once you have that you go to the front of the line in service , no questions asked.

cost 160 to renew, but, it 's good for a long time.

You will need a "RealID" eventually to enter a Federal Bldg, so you have two years to round up your info and get to your DMV and update your license.

You bring up an excellent point. I have kids and grands from NY to CA to Washington state and other close family in points between.

I can't imagine not being able to get to them in case of emergency because I didn't get a star on my license.

@JoyFilled WarriorDepends on the law in your state. I don't need any ID to vote. You can dive with your old license but if you need to fly, as in the case of a family emergency, you won't be able to get on a plane.

Thank goodness y'all were so complete in giving me all the heads up to look into this, & contact my State.

My Lil'Sis was just discharged yesterday, from the Hospital, Heart Surgery, her very 1st stay in a hospital, 1st surgery. If she needed me, cant imagine being held up for a "star" on my DL.

So I'm thinking, "better safe, than sorry" & going to look into this.

They've been available in PA. for awhile. I don't feel the need as I have no plans for travel. Rarely leave the house, if I can help it.

So, a passport will work for federal buildings and flights, but a real ID won't take the place of a passport, right?

@mspatmac.......I am in the same boat regarding immediate family members flung across the USofA. I do not always fly. I take Amtrak. No real ID required.

I do not have one either. My State has extended it AGAIN to 5/2023.
