What great news! I'm so happy for you and it sounds like everything will be OK. What a relief you must feel, sounds like a true friend and will benefit both parties. Prayers answered!

I am happy to hear that you have found somewhere to live and remain close to your son.I agree with you about never moving too far away that you can't be part of his life. You are a very loving mother so you put everything you had into finding a way to stay close.I pray that good things come your way from now on.

Our programs and properties are targeted to assist low, very low, and extremely low-income households. The vast majority-more than 80%-of our client households are extremely low-income families, seniors, veterans, persons with disabilities, and formally homeless. Working together with landlords, housing developers, charities and local governments, we strive to provide housing and support services to as many eligible families as possible."
Sounds so pretty but in reality, many people fall through the cracks for various reasons. Never rely on the government.

Very true. And often many of those who fall through the cracks due to technicalities are those who need help the most. The poorest of the poor will always have help. There has always been an ethos in this country that if you're not the poorest of the poor and/or if you're not a single mother, you don't matter; you're invisible. Private or Church social agencies may care, but honestly the govt doesn't much. And there isn't enough funding to finance organizations to help all that need it.

I am so happy for you !! I worried. I even called QVC and spoke to a CS gal who was going to get back to me in 1 hour and never did. I wanted to help.
I wish you the best of luck ahead. Especially health wise.
We never plan on our lives going bad or south but sometimes they do. No one lives in a glass house...
.YAY again to you. Wish I could have helped you more @hsawaknow
Give your son a big hug for me.

I don't live in your area, but the housing qualifications are the same here clear across the country. Focus is on families and there is housing for disabled and seniors but that fills up quick. A single person with no kids living with them would have a hard time. I am glad your situation worked out - what you posted you get is very hard to live on. It is a shame there aren't more housing options for disabled people as there are for families. I hope you have an easy move and enjoy your new home!

Wonderful to hear you have a viable living situation, @hsawaknow! Staying near a son would have been my overriding concern, too.

Here is a thought for anyone who "falls through the cracks" and cannot get the govt assistance they should, for whatever reason.
Depending on what your wifi situation is, whether you have a landline (or good VOIP might be okay), and probably a laptop but not necessarily for all positions - there are jobs you can do from home to supplement your income. Many are CS types of jobs that don't really require experience. They won't make anyone rich but they can help span the gap.
It's always wise to keep in mind that not everyone is savvy to the ways of applying for assistance, knows who to call or where to go, some are in poor health, depressed, and need some help - like someone giving a da** enough to reach out personally and offer meaningful help. I don't mean from the forum. If you don't have anyone at all to act as an ombudsman for you in any way, it can be very defeating before you start. I think those who can do it should offer to help.
It's something I would do now, except that our local organizations on aging don't want amateurs, they have paid credentialed staff doing it. But not everyone lives where such organizations are active, or are able to get to them. And some are just beaten down with hopelessness.
I hope that never happens to those who think it's a snap to get whatever help you need whenever you need it, no prob.

Hi @hsawaknow
I'm so glad things are looking up for you.
And ps, I wouldn't touch Craig's list rooms with a ten foot pole. Too many problems associated with them.
Best wishes... Noel
