I posted this before. I was attacked and bitten when I was 11, by a pit bull.  It was in the street, and a passing policeman kept hitting the dog with his stick.  The dog lunged at him and he shot it dead.  My girlfriend was badly injured with bites and hospitalized.  Her puppy that defended her was killed by a passing car. (this all happened on a pavement that spilled in the middle of a busy street with oncoming traffic)  I remembered my friend being in the hospital for  a long time.  Nobody claimed the dog was theirs.  First time I ever heard the word pit bull & the only time I ever heard a gun shot close to me..
