I took garden vegetables to a new neighbor one times and she let me know right quick she didn't cook, said she didn't want the veggies, I told her it was ok, I'd take them back home. That I wanted to meet she and her dh.

She ended up keeping the veggies. I was offended but then she needed something, and called me, and you know what? She turned out to be ok. She just wasn't in the mood to cook.

if i did not want them i would have taken them anyways and passed them along to someone who enjoys cooking and/or enjoys vegetables. so nice that you broke the ice and got acquainted.  Smiley Happy

 I am sorry but I think it is presumptuous to bring any item of food to a neighbor you do not know because they might have allergies in the case of certain vegetables or legumes, or they might not know if they had insecticides used on them, or in the case of legumes, many are allergic to them.  I think it was very kind of you but I understand her desire not to cook them.  One of my DILs does not cook and she would probably not know what they were unless my son cooked them for her and served them in which case they do not look like raw vegetables.

@Nonametoday  i did not offer vegetables to my neighbor. @happycat  did.

@sunshine45

Sorry, Sunshine45.  I bet you would have been a good neighbor, however.

LOL.  Please see exchange between @sunshine45  and me about the veggies.  It was so kind of you to offer but I understand the reason for not offering food products to people one does not know.  LOL

@Nonametoday

last week i DID give my neighbor and friend some ruby red grapefruits, some navel oranges, and some pomegranates.

she kept some for herself and she was so sweet that she peeled some for me and made a small fruit tray. she does such a great job on grapefruits especially......who has the patience to peel a grapefruit  fully? the pomegranates take some time also and can be messy.

@occasionalrain ....I'm confused....Why are you 'talking' about this neighbor if he died 2 years ago?  He must have really made a bad impression on your mind to still be thinking about the ''deeds'' that he did...and I would be interested in knowing how many people want to protect the ''eggs of bugs'' in the yard...never heard of such.

@sarahpanda

The neighbor and I were friends and remained friends.

I used the two incidents as examples of well meaning but unwanted good deeds as a topic for discussion.

The insects that lay eggs, larva include Luna moths, some butterflies, caterpillars and the insects birds need for food in Spring. I care about wildlife and those who do leave their leaves where they fall over winter.
