Having just gotten over the flu (well about 12 days later and still coughing....), I still wipe everything down with wipes, wear gloves pushing a cart (plus I wipe it down). I guess what I'm saying is, I should've been wearing a mask, too....

@occasionalrain OK, I find it odd to purchase food to let it spoil. It's like buying clothes you'll never wear. Which I find odd as well. But that's just me! ![]()

Of the 2 practices mentioned thus far, I don't find wearing a mask in public to be unorthodox at all. Mask wearing by a percentage of the public is here to stay.
Buying fruit solely for the purpose of watching it spoil, yes, seems quite out of the ordinary; unless you're conducting a fruit fly experiment in high school biology.

I would just buy some plastic bananas. Why waste money on food no one is going to eat. Not liking the smell of bananas is another reason to use fake bananas.

@Sooner They don't spoil, just get a few freckles then go to the raccoon and opossum to enjoy. It's a win win win. The grower, the grocer, the Raccoon/ Opossum enjoy, all benefit and so do I.

When the BF got his current husky, the vet said the dog was underweight. So I started making homemade doggy ice cream..........
3 bananas, 1 cup peanut butter, 1 large container of greek yogurt.......mix it all together and I freeze it in 4 oz paper bathroom cups. He gets 1 ice cream treat a night after dinner and loves shredding the cup as much as eating the ice cream.
Sometimes I mash it up and add 4 bananas.....yes, he added the weight.

@occasionalrain OK but DO NOT let that raccoon think it is an invitation to live in your attic!
Just sayin'!

@occasionalrain. You might also be interested in knowing that bananas sitting out will attract mice.

Why not get wax / molded decor bananas to mix in with your real fruits in the bowl ?
Over time I now cannot stand the smell of citrus peelings but love the taste of the fruit itself....odd yes !
