I never did well in geography lessons, so a lot of the places were new to me
! It was so much fun to see all of the happy athletes from all over the world on the big boats, little boats and shared boats. ![]()

I've heard of most of these countries. Some from school, a lot from past Olympics.

What a neat list, @Mz iMac . I recognize a few island countries, some African countries. Wow, I didn't realize tiny Montenegro was a whole separate country now, in the once-turbulent Balkans. I think it used to be part of Yugoslavia...
Little Andorra has always intrigued me, for being at the borders and high "roof" of France and Spain, partaking of both cultures probably. I like countries like that, Luxembourg and tiny Lichtenstein (sp?) being two more...
Luxembourg must have a REAL split personality, swung as it is right between France and Germany. It's one of the most prosperous countries in Europe, if I'm not mistaken.

@Caaareful Shopper How old are you?
I went to school during the 50s through 60s. I do not believe those countries existed when I was in geography class or there must have some name changes since then.
Thialand was Siam on the world map when I was in school even though the name change occurred in 1939. ![]()

@Oznell One of the Olympic commendors stated that ONLY 46 states in the US are represented . Never did mention which 4 were not. I did some research but could not find anything.
Do you by any chance know?

Gosh, I do not, @Mz iMac -- I don't know much about the Olympics. But no doubt someone here does know, and will be chiming in directly!

I recognized all but seven. Maybe because I read a lot.
