Freshman will be on campus for a short time. All others will continue to learn online. They are expanding the technology toward more video then before. I will still be working from home. Some of us will go on campus (library will still be closed to the public) We have access to the library via code, so if we go up there for scanning, etc. We will be on our own, taking turns. We always worked away from the public to begin with. Service toward the library (& campus) will be limited too. Darn, I was looking forward to the delicious Einstein Bagels I loved to have for breakfast before going to work!
The shuttle will resume service on 8/27 also. Limited time during the day. Instead of the little buses, they will be the big ones with masks, social distance seating, etc. First time in a long time, I'll be driving to work. Normally I would have taken the shuttle to work.

So glad I am not in this position but I would think if I were I would pass on going back this year, but then if I was 18-19 years old my mindset would be different.

I wouldn't even consider going if classes were online. I would wait a year or choose something else to do. There are other options for a career with job opportunities.

I personally thought the Freshman class on campus was mandatory (Most universities do this) because of campus orientation, etc. Even if you study online, a percentage of your enrollment requires you to be on campus physically. I think learning online is great and there has never been problems with this. Schools have a long history of this. Before computers, there was schooling via the radio (Australia) They did this for years because of the long distance between settlements. 33% of all students take at least one online course. I took two classes. Nothing wrong with it.

I'm glad some sense of normalcy is returning to your life.

I am so glad my kids finished their masters degrees a few years ago.
I wouldn't send my kids to school now. It's a petri dish.
The most outrageous things that happened this week in my state ...
1. our governor issued a mandate that K-12 school districts must open schools and can't offer online classes.
2. our governor held a zoom meeting with educators to discuss reopening schools because it was too risky to meet in person. The hypocrisy went right over the guv's head.

Our son will be entering his second year of state-run, post-secondary school technical/vocational training, in automotive mechanics.
They suspended in-class participation in March, and the students had to finish out the year with online instruction, not that satisfactory in a technical, hands-on field, like mechanics!
Our son lives with us, and hubs and I are both in "high-risk" groups. However, we hope that some sensible in-classroom instruction will resume, taking all masking, distancing and sanitary precautions. Our state has been one of the "authoritarian" ones, but we are hoping that his school will be able to, step-by-step, return to normal function.

@Oznell, what do you mean?

I would stay away from any school or classroom until Covid is under control.
