Re: Ukranian Nuclear Power Plant on Fire

[ Edited ]

  He (Putin) needs to be stopped.   If we don't do anything..... sooner or later it will come to, not just Ukraine, but  the whole world anyway. I think I do understand the horrors of a 3rd world war or at least my imagination can fathom it.  If we do nothing to stop him now, imo, it will come anyway. If he can plot to take someones life....so can we plot to take his.  If  there ever comes a day when we have to live under the threat of a nuclear war by a  mad man, then I would rather fight or die then live in such a world.

I had called QVC’s Corporate office to ask if they could post something asking for thoughts and prayers for the people of Ukraine and giving a few suggestions to charities.  Well, I was listened to politely.  Sadly, nothing. QVC has now lost me as a customer.

@PamfromCT  Why should QVC?  It's a retail selling establishment. Did you go to your local Macy's and ask them also?

@Pearlee, Answer should be simple.  Macy’s does not have a TV site, running 24 hours a day, noting other tragedies - do you recall? - nor a blog.  I truly feel sorry for you if you don’t know the difference.  But then I do realize some folks have a reputation for being contrary and always starting disagreements.  Some day you might learn to question without being snide.  Hope springs eternal.

@PamfromCT  😂  And the same to you.😂

@Pearlee    I'll live dangerously and risk another snide remark.  It is said that Putin is totally alone, even his bodyguards don't have access to him, although he did give a speech yesterday (you couldn't tell if he had an audience).  He has undoubtedly made it virtually impossible for anyone to annihilate him.  A mi!Italy coup, A revolt by high-ranking officers, would be a more practical solution.  I bet many in the military have friends and relatives in Ukraine and are sympathetic.

He's in self imposed exile.  Maybe he'll become so lonely, he'll end it all.

While I know this one, tiny, fact will not penetrate, or even niggle away at the snideness, I propose this:

*** Perhaps, because they have done so on many previous       occasions, which Seemingly, did not cause you angst.

Without understanding your attempts, your reply might be of interest, but I do, and it’s not.

Make it a happy day.

Kachina, on the news about two nights ago (I do not recall which news network), a report said that Putin surrounds himself with former members of the KGB (of which he was once a member).  I fear his posse is impenetrable.

I googled to see if I could find anything related to this news item, and found an article that mentions the elite group that surrounds him like a fortress on foot:

Since then, Russia’s growing isolation has only strengthened the so-called siloviki, the Russian security men who have surrounded him, many of whom served in the KGB and have maintained conservative, often conspiratorial political views.

Unless one of them unexpectedly and uncharacteristically decides to take out Mr. P., we are most likely SOL.

@Kachina624   If he ever decided to do that, he may pull the nuclear trigger.

@TW   @Drythe   I think some here don't understand the possible implications of a third world war.  It could literally destroy life on earth.  It's to be avoided at all costs.  It will be nuclear.  If they have any future, it will be grim for your grandchildren.  It won't be limited to Europe either.  We have a big target on our backs.

The media is having a field day and exploiting a horrible situation.  Instead of discussing for hours on end the Ukrainians need action.  They need military help.  Putin is clearly committing war crimes and crimes againt humanity.  He is still a member of the United Nations with Veto power.  How insane is that?  Putin scares the rest of the world with nuclear threats.  He will not stop at the Ukraine but the inaction of the rest of the world will only embolden him.

@TW   Think about it.  Do you really want a nuclear war and World War III?  That's why other countries are walking on eggshells.  Its very sad about Ukraine but better to lose one country than to destroy the whole world.

@Kachina624

Personally, I don’t know anyone anyone so protected, and uninformed that they fail to consider the dire consequences of WWIII.  Do not try to cut my foot to fit your shoe.

I am not so heartless, insulated, or careless as to just toss off another country and it’s people, at the whim of a man whose ego was hugely placated by our PTB not so long ago.

THEM or US, apparently your solution, is not one I am prepared to support.  It surely surprises me that so many people who can not live a good life without ‘their’ brand of TP are so willing to subject others to such unspeakable horror.   THESE are the people you expect to live with the deprivations which come under a man such as VP?  This ok with people who complain endlessly about the time of day their mail arrives?

Some of us live in a world where might is not necessarily right, and closing one’s eyes to the plight of others is not acceptable.

My family fought in every war in this country since the Revolutionary War and still fight, I respect them, admire them, and what they stood for, and what it cost them. So, yes, I HAVE thought about the options.

I hope everything remains enchanting in the Land of Enchantment,

and for those of us who believe the future of OUR great country is in the best hands with our heroes.

Re: Ukranian Nuclear Power Plant on Fire

Putin is attacking an independent country, intentionally killing its citizens,  including children.  If he finally gets control, what's to stop him from attacking another country????

No one wants WWIII, but, someone needs to stop this maniac.

Prayers for all of the innocent people.

Re: Ukranian Nuclear Power Plant on Fire

@Drythe   Frankly I am amazed to read such a short sighted commentary coming from you and further astounded that you would put me in the categories you mention.  My only concerned on this issue is for the survival of humanity and the world as we know it.  We are at the mercy of a madman who would like nothing better than an excuse to engage the entire world in conflict.

I'm sorry we're in disagreement and that this doesn't concern you.
