So many commentators said this week that Putin was likely to do something like this to force an escalation of the war. Some experts cited examples of similar tactics he has used in the past.

Hopefully it's not as bad as it sounds. I believe they said on the news the actual fire was in office buildings which are separate from the reactors but the news seems to change minute-by-minute.
The International Atomic Energy Agency said it was aware of the incident and in contact with Ukrainian authorities. The agency said Ukrainian regulators reported radiation levels appeared normal despite the shelling.
The facility also has an automated radiation monitoring system on its website. Experts told Fox News Digital the data appeared normal after reports of the fire and that a meltdown was unlikely unless the bombardment caused overheating.

and the world is watching and doing nothing. These pathetic sanctions do nothing. Putin will not stop at the Ukraine. He wants the old Russia back. The longer the world watches and does nothing the worse it will get. Putin tested the waters when he got away with shooting down an airliner and poisoned people in foreign countries. Now he knows he can get away with anything.

I had called QVC’s Corporate office to ask if they could post something asking for thoughts and prayers for the people of Ukraine and giving a few suggestions to charities. Well, I was listened to politely. Sadly, nothing. QVC has now lost me as a customer.
@PamfromCT Thank you so much for trying. I guess QVC doesn't want to get involved in the politics. I haven't heard the Red Cross ask for donations which I thought was strange.
It would be ironic if a large portion of the country became uninhabitable.

Putin must be the most hated man right now in this world. Let's hope he comes to his senses and stops firing so the fire can be put out.

The media is having a field day and exploiting a horrible situation. Instead of discussing for hours on end the Ukrainians need action. They need military help. Putin is clearly committing war crimes and crimes againt humanity. He is still a member of the United Nations with Veto power. How insane is that? Putin scares the rest of the world with nuclear threats. He will not stop at the Ukraine but the inaction of the rest of the world will only embolden him.

The only way to stop this bombing is to get control of Ukraine's airspace. The only way to do that is for NATO aircraft to go in and shoot down Russian bombers.
Then what?
****The power plant is being shelled, not bombed. But how to get it stopped remains the same.

@TW Think about it. Do you really want a nuclear war and World War III? That's why other countries are walking on eggshells. Its very sad about Ukraine but better to lose one country than to destroy the whole world.

There is no facile solution to this vicious rape of a country. Many of us would like to go in with a strong military and pulverize the Russian troops. The world and we are outraged. But those troops have a madman for a leader, and the world could be melted with mutual nuclear attacks in a matter of days if the West comes in right now and fires away. I do not pretend to know the proper and safe path to take now, but I realize that hotheadedness is anathema now.
Some groups do not do well with nuanced thoughts and actions; I get that. But this is a time for careful and measured thought, words and actions. What the best actions or non-actions should be, I have no idea.
