If they are 100% cotton, they shouldn't turn out blotchy. If it's a 'mix' of poly/cotton, could be a problem. Do dyes and bleach have a formula for both cotton and poly now-a-days? It's been 'a long time' since I've bleached or dyed. Years ago, A cotton (light blue) button up blouse turned out 'blotchy' using dark grey dye. But, actually, it turned out quite well, the blotchy look in various shades of darker grey.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
