You have a habit of trying to make you're "opinion" be the only and absolute must for everyone. I still write checks to pay my bills (which you have also criticized people for) and send out mail 3 or more times every week.
Just because someone doesn't do things the way you do does not make it wrong!

This is what I was thinking. ![]()
I don't pay too much attention to the cost of stamps or shipping, as I figure there is nothing I can do to change it.
If the cost of stamps really is going down - wow! I do think that that is unheard of - in my lifetime, anyway.
I use about THREE stamps a YEAR. I send my father a birthday card, a Father's Day card, and a christmas card. So if I have ten or twenty stamps on hand I'm good for a really long time.
I think that the 'Forever Stamp' thing is a good idea. Hopefully, it caused a lot more stamps to be purchased and was helpful to their business picture.

Life is just not fair - you were probably perfectly happy to mail a letter with a Forever stamp that costr you less than 49 cents, now you'll be evening out the price since you "overpaid" to try to save a dollar over a few years time.d more. It also wouldn't be fair if they could never decrease the price, but it's not going to be enough money for me to worry even about the principle of the thing - maybe for me less than 20 cents a year -10 stamps at a 2 cent lowered price.
I could only wish my morning newspaper would be such a bargain!
I hope aren't directing this at me since I wasn't even complaining. Just shocked that they would make it go down. I don't find the price of mailing letters costly at all, actually. I still have stamps I bought a few years ago since I rarely mail anything.
i dont think she was @HappyDaze ......i think it is more directed at me since i complained that i had purchased well over 200 stamps at 49cents each.
but it is very good news for anyone who didnt buy a lot of stamps at once during this past year or so.

@sunshine45 ah okay, I was kind of confused by the seemingly semi-angry tone of the post, lol. Not sure why we have to get kind of rude over a simple discussion about stamp pricing? ![]()

The price is only supposed to go down a couple of cents. If you bought forever stamps anytime between 2007 and 2013 you still paid a lower price (41 to 46 cents) than the current price of stamps less the 2 cents (47 cents).
within the past year i have bought well over 200 forever stamps.....didnt buy them that far back. it still doesnt sound fair, even though the amount is not a lot, it is the principle of the matter.
There was no guarantee that stamp prices wouldn't change and what difference does it make? You bought them to save money and assuming you paid 46 cents they will still be cheaper than what these new stamps will cost. Also, just hang on to them - stamp prices will very likely go up again.
‎02-27-2016 06:40 PM
@scotnovel no, there was no guarantee of course, but that is exactly how the post office marketed them......buy them at a certain price and even if the cost is raised you have saved yourself some money own the road......evidently, i didnt save any money. i paid 49 cents for them.
evidently i buy a lot more stamps than everyone else.

We should all feel blessed that our postage is cheap.

Wow, such a fuss over a few pennies!! I'm sure it's not going to break the bank for anyone!

To the OP, I don't ever remember a decrease, but, honestly the cost of stamps doesn't rile me up all that much. I consider it a bargain to drop a letter in the mail and have it arrive across the US in a few days. And, I love my local PO!
As to writing....Me too. I write to two wonderful ladies (in their 90s) and regularly send out cards to a few friends.
I love beautiful stationary and pretty stamps. I coordinate them all when I can. And, I order colorful, decorative address labels.
It's a lost art, but I still love doing it!

I use several hundred stamps a year. I think postage is a bargain!
