I can so relate to this.  My mail problems are usually on the weekend and not with my regular carrier.  Today, though, I had a package stuffed in my mailbox that should have been brought to my door.  I had to get the scissors and a knife and bend the package down to get it out.  This has happened several times before.  Next time I will do as someone else in this thread suggested and take a picture of it and take it to the post office.

So, are you ladies going to tip your postal carriers this holiday season?

Its a miracle we ever get a piece of mail.  I got a package notice Saturday (I was home) left by a carrier too lazy to walk to my door.  I went online and requested it be delivered today.  It was confirmed.

So here comes this moron in his jeep.  He raps softly on my door, I get there as fast as I can only to discover a Zulily package.  He's already gone.  He goes up my street, and about 20 min later comes back down the other side so I wait for him.   He tried not to stop although he saw me but I yelled loudly for him to stop.

I showed him my delivery notice and asked where my package is.  Get this... He actually had the gall to say he hadn't been down my side of the street.  I told him he'd just left a package on my doorstep so he'd obviously been down my side plus there was mail in my box.

First he tried to tell me the Zulily pkg was the pkg but I know it's restricted medication from my mail order pharmacy.  So then he blames it on "the clerks" who bring the carriers packages.

I told him I expected to receive it tomorrow.  It would be so much easier to buy drugs on the street.

@Kachina624  Hooray for you!!!  Glad you were able to catch him.  I caught UPS guys lying, losing packages, etc., etc.  Lots of loss through usps in the past also.    I would like a camera near the road to catch them, but too expensive.

@Plaid Pants2I think I'll skip it this year.  It's even hard to know who to tip since they all deny being the "regular carrier".

I guess it's cheaper to use mail order, but, I would never do it

To many American holidays, bad weather, mail mix ups, undependent

route folks.

If I had to worry about being on medications I'd hoof it.

After receiving literally hundreds of packages in the years since I retired, I'm pretty sure I've experienced most of the things that can happen. I'm either blessed or cursed by having to know how things work, being able to view things from multiple viewpoints, etc. Here's some conclusions I've come.to. Each situation is different and even tho two situations appear the same, the causes could be very different. Yes, there are lazy mail deliverers. But there can be other factors involved also. Even a combination of both.

First, tho it definitely doesn't appear to apply from what you've said, I'm sure there are routes where opposite sides of the street are on different routes. However, supposing that were the case, I can also imagine a driver seeking to avoid an argument over what seems a minor issue by not pursuing the discussion. Of course, doing so leaves the driver having to answer based on his/her experience regarding the most likely scenario.

Did you check the tracking number on the slip you received with the tracking number on the package? More than once I've known a package was coming from the online tracking screen, but been wrong regarding the source of the package.

And, yes, packages do get loaded on the wrong delivery truck. It's definitely possible that that happened the second day. Actually, that can happen anywhere in the delivery chain. I even had one package that traveled all the way across the country and back before it made the final journey from the nearest hub to my local post office.

Hopefully you'll get your package tomorrow!

@patbz and @NickNack "How the heck to I get the package out" happens to me once in a while also. My apartment complex has really old mailboxes. The USPS delivery person opens a strip eight boxes at a time. There's a certain size shipping box that they can easily slide into the box. But there's just enough of a lip where the resident accesses the box that it's harder than heck to get the package out. In fact, I just explained that the other day. Driver had no idea.

I've always managed to get them out without having to go get something to pry with, so I've only thought about getting a picture. It's only been 2-3 times over the past 2 years, so I'm not sure how much it would help.

I get that you expected your package but I don't understand why gave the carrier such a hard time.  If he had the package, he'd have delivered it.  You should have called your post office and asked for the manager.  Harrassing your mail carrier was pointless.

Sorry @Kachina624....I understand. I have a story close to as amazing as yours.

Way to long to type, but after the one of many "assistant's" to the post master got done telling me how bad it was at this post office, I think we both needed therapy!..

I then realized my issue was not ever going to be fixed, & I was to worn out to care.Woman Sad
