I feel the tracking for all these companies is messed up. It depends on the people doing the deliveries more than the company itself. I do like the tracking (when it works) but I don't need to know where the truck is at any given time. I am fortunate though where I live is pretty safe regarding packages being left on the porch. My UPS guy is awesome though, he will always ring the bell to let me know I have a delivery before he leaves.

I'm with @mspatmac, our UPS deliveries are fantastic. We get notification when it will arrive and they have never been later than expected, either on time or sooner.
Now, our USPS is a total different story. THEY will state items delivered but I never received. They put my packages in other neighbors' box. I also receive my neighbors packages. They have lost numerous deliveries. A couple years ago we had filed several complaints due to not receiving "delivered" packages. After I received medication for someone else, I was very upset. It had been about the 14th package in 6 weeks that was not delivered to the correct address. The USPS supervisor spoke to me and actually told me that our postal carrier "Gary" never received any complaints and it was odd. Lo and behold, 1 week later this same "Gary" was actually on the news as the worst mail carrier in our county. I give 1 star to our USPS and 10 stars to our UPS as they have never let us down.
It seems as though it just depends on where you live, and what drivers you have. I believe @Kachina624 lives in NM? Here in Cali and Hawaii, UPS is far superior to both USPS's.

@hckynutjohn You are disregarding the fact that those of us who live in urban areas would like to get to the door to get packages before the porch pirates discover them. UPS GPS tracking makes it very easy for them to know where the trucks are so they come along right behind them. They would have loved the TV I had delivered last week. It was dumped off and the driver couldn't bother lifting his arm 10" to ring the doorbell so I'd know it was there, although I have a sign asking him to do so.
Most of us don't live in the country where such occurrences are rare like you do. Most of the world is quite different. We can't be indifferent to delivesies.

Then I worry about them all night and start the watch again in the morning. They are usually delivered by somebody the second day who, of course, can't be bothered ringing the close-by doorbell.
This company has really gone to the dogs. The above scenario is happening way too often. I'll take the USPS any day.
I've been there too but just with FedEx. UPS Groud is lower priority and can be delayed. Few companies use the high level priority options.
IMO, I'd never expect UPS, FedEx, or USPS to ring my bell. They're already crazy busy and working long hours.
@CalminHeart I certainly don't think asking him to raise his arm 10" from where he puts the packages to ring the doorbell is asking too much, especially since there's a sign asking him to do so. Stolen packages cost UPS millions of dollars. I'd say letting customers know a package arrived would be two seconds well spent.

Well, @Kachina624 , it would be nice if there was some way a driver had on record what each home wanted, ring the bell or don't ring the bell. For us we never want the bell rang. When they ring the bell, the dog barks, when the dog barks it wakes up the baby. It seems to never fail that it is just when the baby fell asleep. Ugh!! In our household we always cringe when the bell rings just to tell us they delivered a package.
With that said, I do understand your situation. I see many homes in our area where the front door faces the street, ours does not, where there is easy access to any packages left. I always drive by worried they will get stolen. If there is a note to ask them to ring the bell, there should be no reason they don't. Hopefully one day soon you can actually catch the driver delivering and ask why they don't use the doorbell. For some odd reason maybe they are told not to.

I had one who would tell me with a note, where he put my pkg.{ under the cover on the grill}, he retired, now they won't even ring the doorbell. Love Amazon tracking. not afraid of thieves, just don't want cats peeing on them. We now have a law on cats, they can't roam. takes a lot of complaining but go to councel meetings and state yor problems. It works.

Yep, UPS's service stinks...a package was supposed to have been delivered 12/29 but I NEVER RECEIVED IT, probably delivered to the wrong address.....

I had a strange thing with UPS today. When I went to check on the tracking for two QVC orders, it said " we will be in your area and deliver a day early". A few hours later I get an email saying it was delivered. I went to check and nothing was there. I clicked on the tracking and it said left with receiver with the post office area. That has never happened before. UPS always delivers to me when they say they will deliver a day early. I sure hope I get them tomorrow.

I'm glad they stop delivering at some point in the night. UPS drivers work long hours and don't need to be delivering until 10pm or after. The world won't end if it's delivered the next day.
