It looks as if UPS is very close to striking. My last outstanding parcel ( from Penzey) will be delivered tomorrow. Anything I need will have to be acquired locally. Things I don't need ( cardigans in 105 degree weather) will have to wait. No more online shopping for now.

@chessylady Last word, they're negotiating again.
There are other carriers and UPS has hired temporary employees and will.have managerial staff making deliveries. It's not like nobody will be delivering packages.

We've had enough notice to stock up....(except for meds, I guess)

This has far reaching problems, I work for an out of home advertising company (billboard and the like) so we need to have huge, very heavy packages shipped across the country shipped. From the printing company to our installers in various cities, usually it is the ad agencies who handle it all, but it is a concern for us to get things installed and posted as per the contract.

Just thinking how the power players have shifted over the last while. I know I never had things delivered so often even just ten years ago. Brave new world.
The son of a friend works within the local hub and it is hard work. Lots of pressure.

Hopefully, they can reach an agreement and avert the strike.
Non-union temporary employees and managers attempting to do the job would be a colossal mess on a very big scale.

It's hard, hard work. My dad unloaded and sorted 3-4 semis a night. He's been retired 24 years. I can't imagine it now. I think it was 2 guys per semi but it was ALOT.

They will reach an agreement.

Both sides have been discussing this for at least a month. UPS's workforce is already down 30% due to the issues and it's going to get worse if management doesn't realize they can't continue to withhold healthcare for months at a time from employees and their family. It's cruel, it's wrong, it's unacceptable.
We have 3 close family friends (ages 21 -30) and between them and their friends, we hear about the issues on a constant basis. There are 2 areas where both sides can't reach an agreement and I don't blame the workers for striking if it comes to that; not in any way.
I sincerely hope they are able to work it out.
