This happened to me in January.
I call my credit card company every month to pay off my balance.
It had an email from said ccard company that they were concerned of fraud and rejected the charge. It was a large amount.
I called them and was asked for my cell number on the account. No, the number is not listed on my account. Just because I call them doesn't mean that's the correct number.
I went to the three credit reporting agencies and was able to talk to a live person.
I was able to have my current phone # listed.
Years ago I had frozen my accounts because of hacking.
Problem solved.
The same day my credit card company emailed me, and they put my correct number in my information.
I waited a month and went back and froze my accounts with the three reporting agencies.
I did not have to provide my drivers license or any identification.
When I called my credit card company, I was asked security questions.
It was my telephone number number on my profile, it was outdated.

@occasionalrain @stevieb @piperbay @KKlim @Carmie
To all that responded, thank you! And thank you for not making me feel like I was crazy.
I called the number on the back of the card, which is why this whole license thing seemed weird. The only security question she asked was the last 4 digits of my SS#.
There isn't a branch close by that I can go to. This is one of the major credit card companies, and the closest office would be a round trip of 50 miles, plus a day off of work.

Technology is going to be the cause of many heart attacks. Remember when we could go to our local bank or post office and get everything straight or if it was our local department store, we could go to their credit department in situ and get it straight . I HATE TECHNOLOGY WITHOUT LIVE HUMAN BEINGS WHO SPEAK ENGILSH FOR ME.

@Nonametoday I completely agree! Technology is a love-hate relationship!

@LdyBugz They should also have been able to email you a security code or send it to your land line other than as a text. I'd consider calling back and asking to speak to a supervisor, but good luck with that. I completely agree that customer service and 'understandable' customer service seem to largely be things of the past. When one gets really lucky, one endures only a minimal recorded telephone menu before one gets a 'live agent' quickly, one who is competent, and one who can be understood. Sad but true. Can I ask, what bank is this. If you don't want to say I understand, but I ask because I don't think I want to do business with them!

@stevieb I'd rather not say what company this is, sorry. I called them twice hoping the second try might help. No dice though, same run around about the license and other nonsense. I get they want to verify who I am, but I called them from the landline they have on file. The whole mess is just absurd, and frustrating. You are so right about customer service. 😡

@LdyBugz. Sure, if I wanted my money back and a new CC. I don't see it being that big of an inconvenience.

Login to your account so you can change your home phone to your cell phone number.
You can also check your account for any charges you didn't make. I check mine often to see if any funny business is going on.
I don't think the credit card company will send you an email. They always call me by phone.

Something doesn't sounds right at all. I would NEVER respond to a text or e-mail from any bank or Credit Card company.
Credit Card companies do not send e-mail that you can respond to about fraud.
I suggest you call the number on the back of your Credit Card ASAP and have your card cancelled and another one issued.
Never, ever respond to an e-mail or sign on to your account by following a link.
Never give out any personal info over the phone, or by text or e-mail.
It sounds like you have been had.
CALL NOW!!
@Carmie. She initiated a call to her bank and knows to whom she's talking.
Everytime I ever wrote a check to a merchant the asked to see my license and wrote it on the check. No big secret there.
Everybody sends texts with a code nowadays to verify identity. It's a routine procdure.

It's more of one @Kachina624 than it needs to be. When I've been asked to key in a code to confirm who I am, I'm usually offered several methods of obtaining it, often including an email and use of my landline. If I were asked to copy my license and send it to them I wouldn't have the technology to do it other than to text it to them, and since they didn't have her cell on file, one wonders if they'd accept a text.
