I am so sorry for you, been there too many times, so thankful I am now retired and don't hate Monday mornings anymore!

I may have to go that direction until I can find something permanent.
I am working p/t in a healthy insurance company call center in preparation for my seasonal outside work selling ACA insurance.
I have to say the call center experience has been fantastic - even though last Wednesday was Day One for Medicare enrollment and the place was crazy busy. I just take the marketplace calls, so the Medicare people aren't slowed down or distracted.
Have you thought of that type of call center? The members all seem to be very happy to get their questions answered. I never did call center work before and thought I would be stressed out - but it's turning into a positive experience.

They hired 6 of us to do outside sales...and let us make our own hours in the call center until open enrollment on 11/15.
I took on 20 hours/wk. in the call center, but could have done 40 or even more if I had the time (which I don't).
It is a stable field and they have great benefits too. I noticed that all the HI companies have been hiring. The call center just picked up 50 new CSRs.

Lots of good luck to you, Terrier3, and also your co-workers! Seems like a nice environment, which is important.

Start searching for another job if you need to continue to work. It looks better on your resume to be working when you are job searching.

I hope you are not posting this from work. Be thankful you have one. Never quit your current job, until you have another one lined up.

I also wish you the best and agree that you should stay where you are while you search for another line of work. Get your resume in order and let friends and family know you are considering a change. Networking opens possibilities... it's how my DH found his recent job (when he was laid off after working over twenty five years at the same business, he worked on his resume and frequented a nearby Starbucks, where he met many business people and got some 'inside' info on some job opportunities opening up).
After being a stay at home mom for twenty years and doing free-lance art, I wanted to find at least a part time job to get out of the house! It dawned on me that a change from the art field would be interesting and I wanted a job that would keep me physically moving, so I thought about working in a nursing home or even going into the pharmacy field among others. I searched local business sites and clicked on their "careers" or "employment opportunities" page. I found some jobs for dietary aides, bakery jobs, factory work... now I work part time in a bakery located a mile from me and love the change!
