A word that I've learned since moving to AZ is "Virga", which is when you can see rain falling & it ends before touching the ground.  It's from the rain falling into drier air & evaporating before it hits the ground,

@Mindy D   I found another new word for you!

 

Borborygmi:  it's a rumbling or gurgling sound made by the movement of fluid or gas in the intestines.  Like when your tummy growls

I knew the word rheum.....in the Poe story “The Tell Tale Heart” the old man in bed had a “rheumy eye”! But petrichor is a new one on me!

I love that word!  Virga also refers to when it is snowing high up in the atmosphere, and all we can see is a silvery gray covering in the sky.  I feel wonderful on those days.

 

Another word is "pluviophile" - a lover of rainy days.
