The fate of these two young women breaks my heart.  Hanging over my head is much sadness at their choice of death over living in Saudi Arabia.  As others have written, what a dreadful existence it must be in Saudi Arabia for certain types of people.  If you have a vibrant and free spirit -- and are a woman -- it must be wretched. 

The girls had experienced American life and just could not bring themselves to return to a strict patriarchy.  I can't blame them.  If only they had been granted asylum in the U.S.

Horrible. I can't imagine living a life where you'd need to escape, with little resources and change your identify to live. So sad.

Obviously, it was murder with the bodies being bound together by duct tape, and I agree that it was the so called honor killing.

My 2 cents - the sisters loved each other and wanted to go together so they bound themselves together at the waist and feet.
