Two Pit Bulls Saves Two Toddlers from Deadly Snake

With all of the bad rap that pit bulls get, here is a pleasent change.

Two pit bulls saved two toddlers from a poisonious snake recently.

The kids were playing in the back yard, when the dogs saw the snake. They started barking at and attacking the snake, and ended up killing it.

The dogs did get bit by the snake, possible copperhead, and needed emergency treatment, and anti-venom.

Both dogs are expected to make a full recovery.

Great story!  I hate hearing dog breeds getting bad raps.  It's the dog owners that should get the bad rap, not the dogs.

^This.

We have a seven month old pit bull in our family and you couldn't ask for a sweeter, gentler, more loving little boy.

@hoosieroriginal - I agree with you! I love watching the show "Pit Bulls and Parolees" Saturday nights on the Animal Channel. Cute dogs! They actually go to the person's home, no matter what state!!, and check out the family, their home, and how the dog reacts to all of it before they are allowed to adopt the dog! Amazing woman!!

As the Mom to a rescued, abused pit ( he was set on fire), I'm amazed every day that he still trusts humans and he loves everyone he meets!Heart

I'm also the Grandma to a Pit that my DD rescued from a puppy mill, who had been 'overbred' at a too young age and she lives indoors with her siblings....a black lab and 7 rescued formerly feral cats.

Love my fur family!Heart

It's a very happy ending for that family, but I don't it so much consider it a "saving," as in a seemingly purposeful rescue, as much as it is what some dogs would do.

[ Edited ]

I have known two pitbulls (different owners, different periods in my life), and both were utter sweethearts.

Training I guess is the secret, but they are very sweet and gallant dogs (in my experience).

Both were shelter dogs but were not trained or bred for fighting. I am addicted to the show "Pitbulls and Parolees"--anyone else?

I can't always take it, though: it always makes me cry.  Comes in #2 on the cry-ometer.  ("Long Lost Family" is #1.)
